As cold hearted has it may seem but do we really care?

    http://news.sky.com/story/1140528/addiction-and-illness-high-among-ex-sportsmen

Whether your name be George Best, Paul Gascoigne or Kenny Sansom, the same sad illnesses and addictions are always lurking in some corner some where for people who will never ever have any experience of stardom or huge sums of money.

Sorry the sportsman's research is lost on me. You was a celebrity you are no more, so now you can join the queue for help in the real world. Will your story reach out to the people in real desperate need, I doubt it. Will it help with future development...I think your find those future sportsman are generally more focused on nothing other than the pound signs if a wannabe Premier League player. Hence a forever vicious cycle called life and I offer this as some proper research...

or as the final line says...it feels so insignificant, dosen't it

Ahh.. brb we are back to the status quo... I disagee ;)

Well I admit that is very hard to have sympathy for pampered footballers whose troubles are something that the average man can oly dream on but knowledge is power. How many fans will read this article and if only one person reads it and reconises the signs in themselves or a friend and then seeks help to avoid some of the tragic events that so frequently follow then it will be worth it. If the article was about Joe Bloggs around the corner the article would not have been read by many and may not even been written... the stardom of the suffers is a necessary evil to get the knowledge intpo the mainstream

Rocking all the over the World...LOL

So George Best's story was effective then?...women, drink heavily, take a liver, kill that liver...I'll listen more to the average man on the street than I would ever listen to a celebrity, whatever happened to the Marlboro Man haha but I suppose that is just me.

Well who knows how effective the George Best story was, no story will ever stop everyone drinking, but if one person has read the story, released that they are an alcoholic and sort help then yes I would argue it has done its job. The story is not meant to be inspirational more as a warning about addiction.

Your good self aside I think the story of George Best will be more interesting to the masses than the local booze hound and as I said before the more informed people are the better.
