Evening all, Just thought I would share this link with you. A little interview with Adam Smith. Our young full back has been with us since he was 7 and to finally make his league debut in the last game of the season was obviously an amazing achievement for him. One for the future thats for sure. http://www.london24.com/sport/totte...utant_rues_timing_of_family_holiday_1_1377934
Sounds like a really level-headed guy - and clearly wants to progress with Spurs. Hopefully he will get a few more opportunities next season. A shoe-in maybe for the domestic cups at least?
Difficult one for me mate. I live in the SW and saw quite a bit of him when he was on loan at Bournemouth. I really like him as a player and for me i would prefer to see him go out again on loan to the championship which will just continue and aid his development. i was looking forward to seeing how he would do at Leeds but that loan was cut short as we recalled him quickly.
Clive Allen told me about 4 years ago, to put my money on Adam Smith making it at Spurs. "He's going to be great" said Allen, and it looks as though he might be proved right. He has his name chanted at the game on two occasions on Sunday. The first was "Adam, Adam give us a wave", which was in sarcasm aimed at Harry for having him on the bench as replacement RB and then not bringing him on when Walker limped off. The second was in support of the lad when he eventually did come on. He didn't look fazed by the occasion, which is line with the maturity he has shown on all his loan moves. I don't know if he'll make it at Spurs, but I do know he is good enough to make a decent living out of the game.
Evening Spurcat I heard about us chanting his name when he came on. i really do like him as a player and yes he really seems a decent lad as well. Did we recall him from Leeds for cover at RB? I guess that was the case as we sent Corluka out on loan. It was a shame however i'm sure he will go out on loan next term and do a good job for somebody. Another question if I may. What was the general consensus with the birmingham fans and how Andros has faired this season? Have you heard much? Are spurs happy with his development ?
If we didn't have about 6003 right backs on our books at the moment, he'd have a good chance of getting some first team games in the next couple of seasons. The problem is that, like Stephen Kelly when we had Steve Carr at right back, he's going to find it hard to make right back his own position (and that's before considering Naughton is also ahead of him in the pecking order) I reckon we could loan him to a Championship club for the first half of the season and, if he's getting rave reviews, a Premier League club for the second half - as we did with Walker last season at QPR and Villa. Of course, then we need to figure out how to accommodate him in the team...
Really pleased for the lad. It's great to hear about a player coming through who's genuinly had the same dream as all of us growing up but actually getting to live it by playing for us at White Hart Lane. Hopefully he does have what it takes and in a year or two is able to stake a place in the squad.
Hmm, let's see: your username is "Dos Santos is a God". And you say you're excited about a young player? OK - But allow me to wait and see. Mind you it sounds like you've probably seen more of Smith (at Bournemouth) than most of us have seen of Dos Santos! If he does look good it's a shame he's a right back.
I think that another season out on loan would be our best bet with Smith. Sell Corluka, use Naughton as back-up to Walker and see how Smith and Nathan Byrne get on with other sides. If we do this right, then we might not need to buy another right-back for years.
