could be either of those - he must have something he has played Champions League perhaps the injury has knocked him right back
Still think he should have been given a chance since Yedlin & Jones are dross. Having said that Yedlin had a better game vs. Southampton, putting that down to the fact he had a bit more protection with Borini in front of him who will at least track back instead of N'Doye on the wing offering no protection.
According to BBC, Yedlin was our MoM on Saturday! Still, after what Celtic supporters were saying after the Barca game, I'd like to see Matthews get fit and be given a chance next season.
He was much improved from previous performances, but I'm not sure about MOM. I'd have put Borini & Kirchoff above him at least. He might well get a chance if we're in the Championship.
Aye - DY is unproven in premiership so I think we should'nt expect world class defending - he is improving with game time - never rated Jones before we signed him - average at best imo a poor Bardsley and he was not class either although I could'nt question his attitude -
Yadlin and Mathews both lack Prem experience so it can't be that. Got to be an underlining fitness issue, eg, he can't get fully fit without hurting himself.
He contributed greatly to the Saints equaliser by humping the ball aimlessly into their goalkeeper with seconds to go, and two precious points were lost. Apart from that as you say he was not too bad, but we need better, what a pity we did not secure the services of Van Dyke he looks better with every game I see him play.
