Anyone know much about this guy. My source tells me that we are very interested in him. I know a couple of seasons back he was prolific for Rotherham, but I don't know if he is better than our current strikers. If Benno does go, and I hope he doesn't, we would most definitley need another couple of forwards.
All i know is: His stats stand up but he's unproven at league one level (doesn't mean he can't make the step up though). And... It's been well reported that he's a bit of a home boy. Who would therefore prefer to stay up where he is. Reckon your question would be best best directed towards the Rotherham fans mate. I really don't get all this Benson bashing...!!
I'll take your word for that TVR. Making the step up from league two is a big ask. So making the step up from league two whilst upping sticks from an area your happy in is an even a bigger ask. All I'm saying is that there's a lot that can influence if a player is a success or not. After all, it wouldn't be the first time we've taken a seemingly good prospect and turned them into a pile of overpriced excrement. Whilst I'm over the moon with the majority of our signings, I would personally like for any further additions to be tried, tested and experienced. In order to compliment the youngsters we've brought in.
No to harewood for me- nothing against him but I would rather a younger striker. I like the business we've done this season and would like to continue along those lines.
No, No and Thrice No. Le Fondre has to be anaesthetised before every home game just to get him across the border to Yorkshire, just like B.A. Baracus. He's a great goal poacher, but he's not coming South.
Franco, I do believe I am the only one bashing Benno, which concerns me, because if Benson is reading these posts he will think he is Roy of the Rovers and not bog off to Notts County. I know it is bad to bash our own players, but Doc has had it, McOxo certainly got it, Francis is getting it and I demand the right to do it to Benson. All I can think is that there must be some sort of subliminal hypnosis going on and that I must be immune to it. Look into my eyes, not around the eyes...Paul Benson is not very good.
I've never been a fan of his Kerpowell. However, there's no doubt in my mind that he'd be a major asset for us and a real handful for league one opposition. I also reckon he'd compliment the other three forwards we've got whilst offering us something different.
i'd far rather we signed Harewood than Le Fondre. Harewood is a proven goalscorer in higher divisions while Le Fondre although clearly can find the net is probably cricket's Steve Harmison - a talent but can only do it at home, and home aint dahn saff for him
Le Fondre is amazing, but last season lacked some cutting edge at the end of the season and that is why Rotherham did not go up as they rely on him solely to get the goals, would be a great signing.
... I dunno Ponders, Iâm sure youâd agree that genuine goal scorers are as rare as rocking horse doo doo and imo thereâs absolutely no doubt that Benno is just that. Your closing statement of âPaul Benson is not very good âis right to a point. Imo Benno offers very little else apart from his goals, so just so long as heâs putting the ball in the net Iâll be happy. If however the goals dry up for him Iâll be the first one digging him out... Anyway, with all that said and done and the fact that you and I have done the Benno debate to death recently, Iâm sure weâll have to agree to disagree. In terms of âbashing our own playersâ⦠Iâm all for giving dogs abuse to players who I believe are not good enough, hungry enough or committed enough for my Charlton Athletic. McCorCack and Francis for me are the absolute pits. For this reason I will continue to direct my venom at them until they pull their socks up and prove me wrongâ¦!! .
Fair play, Franco. You make some good points. There is not alot more to say about the matter, so I am going to turn my venom towards a lazy, overweight, good-for-nothing, overpaid, slimy cretin who makes his living out of the efforts of other hard working individuals, and gives next to nothing in return... ...Prince Andrew
