Adam Johnson's pleads guilty to 2 charges

He's pled guilty to child grooming and 1 of the 3 counts of sexual activity with a child. The grooming one means that he knew she was a minor so there will be no "he met her in a club and assumed she was 18" defence anymore.

Utter ****, hopefully he'll be sent down for a long time.

Utter scumbag, presumably he has an explanation for the charges he has pleaded guilty to, but pleading guilty to a charge like that means he has to go away for several years. Why would his (gorgeous) partner stand by him if he is pleading guilty? I assume this means we never see him on a football field again. What a stupid man.

 

I'm not sure how much time he'd get for what he's admitted, if any at all, to be honest.
That's probably why he's done it.
Fined, given a suspended sentence, community service and on the sex offenders list.

Sunderland will sack him and he'll struggle to get another club in this country, though.
Off to China, perhaps?
Edit: Actually, being a sex offender might stop him moving abroad. Not sure.

I don't think so. He didn't admit to having sex with her, anyway.
Sexual activity with a minor. I think he admitted to "touching her in a sexual way", if the Guardian's to be believed.

That's exactly what the Guardian says. They also go on to describe what happened in court.
The charge isn't sex with a minor, it's sexual activity.

 

OK. Took sexual activity to mean sex. Probably wait until full details are known to form a settled opinion. But grooming a 15 year old is pretty serious. I guess the sex is part of the "not guilty" pleading (?)

 

It appears so. He would do anything for underage love, but he wouldn't do that.

 

I don't get how this case has been allowed to go on for so long without a judgement, it is the same as the Pistorius case were he was just allowed to carry on with his normal life for ages. I'm not sure how long ago Johnson did what he did but it must be at least a year by now and he has carried on being a premier league footballer, if that ws Joe bloggs in the street you would be in court the next day and sent to the nearest pound me in the arse prison the same week, and rightly so.

 

Just because he has so far pleaded innocent to actual sexual intercourse, does not mean he will not be convicted of such, if that's what the girl's saying I'd say it's probably highly likely.

 

Surely trials usually take longer to come to court ?

I bet he knows there's no evidence for the other two charges. He's looking at 1-2 years. Out in 6 months.

Good question, because as another older poster, I'm not sure I understood what grooming means.
