1. Do you reckon there's much chance of us signing him?

Brilliant player, better than anything we have in midfield. Doesn't get regular starts at Man City, an they'll most likely be buying big again in the summer.

I'd pay 10 million or perhaps more for him, and he's worth that and then some.

Anyone reckon he's worth a crack?

What's happened to him? I completely forgot he existed. He'd be a quality signing if we could get him for a reasonable price.

I'd defo take him for anything 10m and under, an attacking 2 or AJ - HBA - Jonas looks pretty tasty to me, we just need a fudging striker for them to pass to.

He's been injured and has just returned to the bench. I doubt they'll let him go, because he adds to their English quota and he is too good to let go anyway. Brilliant player!

Would be an awesome signing, money wouldn't be an issue, City could afford to let him go for free and pay his wages if they wanted to, however I can see them being greedy and keep him whilst spending another 70 million on players.

Nevermind, we need to focus on our striking department anyway.

I'd sign him, terrific player, City will probably accept lowish bids so will flog him so £10m isnt out of the question (low for an English player).

Didnt he used to be a toon fan? <whistle> <badger>

I'd be loathe to spend £10 million plus on a winger when our main focus has to be a couple of strikers.

Yes; he's a great player to sign but what is the point of having this great wing play with Johnson, Ben Arfa/Jonas when they are crossing into the box or setting up runs for the likes of Best, Ameobi and Lovenkrands.

If we'd had a decent striker up front already I'd happily part with that sum for him but to strengthen the squad overall means smaller sums spent in a lots of positions.

We need a couple of strikers, a RM, A DM, A CB and better cover for LB/RB.

  11. We don't need two strikers. Best has proved he'll score a decent amount goals, and under the pressure of our top scorer leaving us at the time.

We only need a DM if we sell Tiote.

We have Ferguson as cover for LB and LW,

Why do we need two strikers? Unless you mean one strikers to get alot of goals, and one striker to keep strength on the bench? Because Ameobi and Lover need to go.

It's unfair to write of Best for next season though. He's done nothing wrong and 6 goals in 10 games can't be argued with.

    CB - Samba

    LB/RB cover - Van Aanholt

    Striker - Sturridge

We have Best and Ranger to think of aswell.

I still think we do need two strikers as Ameobi and Lovenkrands are not able to cope at this level and I feel that Best is going to struggle as well. He's not going to score enough goals to keep us away from a relegation fight next season but will be good enough to come off the bench.

Ranger needs a season away to get regular first team football.

We need a DM as Smith is redundant in the position. Play passes him by and we need someone a little quicker to get to the challenge.

LB with Ferguson for the future is fine as he's got a great attacking game but he's being beefed up to cope as a LB for his defensive duties. He's still learning and having an alternate LB with experience who is not Perch is better than a rough diamond with little to no experience.

Crackin' player. But sadly I don't think City will let him go - I get the feeling he's one for the future in their eyes so an important player in the City squad.

Need two strikers IMO, Best isnt proven yet and even if he was, we'd only have him plus one more if we only get one. Buying Sturridge and Johnson would take 20 million our of our budget easily.

Van Aanholt doesnt play on the right, you said he played against us there but that was on the left. He isnt both footed.

Samba would be good but IMO depends how good Kadar is, we might not need another CB net year, just release Campbell and dont play Saylor when possible.

We could get a cheaper winger than Johnson who is as effective, Kranjcar is always linked with moves for less than 5mil and can play in the centre.

I think any of these signings would be quality

Wingers: Adam Johnson from Man City, Jérémy Menez from Roma, Jeffrén Suárez from Barcelona, Gervinho from Lille or Charles N'Zogbia from Wigan.

Defensive midfielder: Yann M'Vila from French club Rennes in Ligue 1 or Blaise Matuidi from Saint-Étienne.

Left back if Enrique leaves José Ángel from Sporting Gijón or Davide Santon plays for Serie A club Cesena, on loan from Inter can play Right or Left back.

Centre midfield Thiago Alcântara plays for Segunda División side FC Barcelona B or Alex Chamberlain plays for League One club Southampton.

Striker Daniel Sturridge from Chelsea or José Salomón Rondón (6 ft 1 in) (age 21) plays for Málaga CF in La Liga, as a forward. 2010– Málaga Apps 23 Gls(12)

Tiote will be our Michael Essien of Chelsea so we do need a Defensive Midfielder like they have John Obi Mikel

I think we are ok in the Centre back postion not a priority.

This. Although I rate Best much higher than any of our current strikers, he'll be good competition/back-up/cover for 1/2 strikers we buy. I think we'll be OK with one striker(quality one), maybe buy a versatile forward who can adapt to the wing/AM position if needed or the other way around(Ronald Vargas is a AM/Winger but he can play as a striker).

Loverman, Ameobi and Kuqi IMO are simply not good enough at this level and should be sold/released. Ranger can stay and Airey can go out on loan or both of them depending on how many strikers we have and it also depends on which formation Pardew wants to play weather a standard 442 or a 4231. A quality PL striker like Pav I'll take anytime if we get him on sensible wages and a sensible transfer fee for his age.

Id defo take Adam Johnson/Stewart Downing. Either would be class. Although that would mean we would have to play Hatem attacking midfield so if we got Johnson I would get a striker who can play up front on his own like Pavlyuchenko

This would be a good attack:

    Barton - - - Tiote - - - Ireland - - - Johnson

    - - - - - - - Ben Arfa

    - - - - - - - Pavlyuchenko

Personally I dont rate Roman Pavlyuchenko 29 Yr old no resale value no potential will not improve us and goes against our transfer policy.

Yeah its true what u say about Pavlyuchenko

He is old, but would score us goals. He is also way better than what we have now
