Hi Guys, Just wanted to see what other peoples thoughts are on this young lad?? In my eyes he is looking to be a very good player and our main source in midfield at the moment! Last season I watched him for MK Dons and he wasn't great! I don't get how he has turned into such a good player so fast!! Thoughts? Foxy
Hey Foxy, are you called foxy cos you're foxy, or are you a crisp munchin, sven lovin egotistical *******
he's leeds mate, check his profile. Also, Adam Clayton is a brilliant young talent. Definitely one for the "pros" list on the "pros and cons" of Graysons sometimes questionable signings. His passing game is brilliant, his tackling is solid. I'll say his attacking game needs a bit of work (he wasted an opportunity to get a 5th against Hull by hesitating), but other than that... he's basically like if you merged Johnson and Kilkenny together, and then added a touch of class and a decent amount of extra talent. We're ****ed if he gets injured.
Never seen a player undergo such a transformation in such a short space of time. Big kudos to SG for always stating he was one for the future and playing the loaning out market perfectly.
i thought last year it was an odd signing because he didnt play too well when he played for leeds which wasnt much i'll give ya and then when he went to MK Dons he didnt look that good. He has done very well in the start of the season though and hopefully he can keep it up How old is he? still young obviously
He's 22. I heard he ran the show for the Dons. Obviously we'll never really know for sure because we never got to see him at Dons but he's stepped up to the plate at Leeds and he's deffo one to watch. Hoping he can only get better and that we get him tied down asap.
he has bulked up a lot which has helped his game i think. was a bit lightweight before. vision and passing of kilkenny and gets stuck in, once he starts getting a couple of goal himself then I think we will have a true talent in the middle and will be tieing him down to at least a 6 month contract, with minimum wage offered.
see I know you meant minimum wage within our wage structure, but it wouldn't surprise me if Bates actually offered him £6 an hour.
No I meant £5.94 per hour (actual playing time), rising to £6.08 from the 1st of October this year.
no i watched him a few times play for the dons and i've gotta be honest he looked quite badly all times i watched him
**** knows then. Maybe he thrives in front of a big crowd. There are many players like that, and those are the ones who should be playing for Leeds
Maybe, or he could have just done really well in pre-season and got to know the team very well or he could be one of those players that plays better alongside better players. Or maybe its just a coincidence that the few games that i watched he just had a bad game
It could very well also be coincidence that he matured during those last view games and picked it up just in time to start playing for the mighty whites. It's also possible that, although he'll have been doing his best out on loan getting experience, he didn't feel quite as motivated as it wasn't his real club. It wasn't the club he was contracted to. Who knows?!
Clayton has always been a talented kid thats why man City got him into their academy. A couple of seasons ago we played against him when he was on loan at Carlisle, and he was by far their best player. Bossed midfield and gave us the run around. Carlisle player of the season, so we snapped him up, and then spent no time with him. Gave him a couple of runs and then sent him on loan. Carlisle wanted him back, most dons fans thought the world of him as well. Yes he's filled out a lot and to be fair theres not much competition for him at the club now, so took his chance with both hands, lets hope we don't sell him
In fairness, as time goes by more players are moving into the "pros" column, Clayton, McCormack and Nunez all this season. Right now he seems to be doing what Kilkenny and Johnson were supposed to do together. The only thing he's missing is Johnson's heading ability.
