The sun has an article about how the new city away shirt is the same design as Bolton and Sunderlands away kit. fans complaining about how Adidas are recycling kits.

    I think it's **** really.

Adidas are massive, they should take some pride and stop rehashing.

You know it's season-end when the dreaded word 'template' keeps popping up in threads, and that's Adidas's fault.

I imagine teams pay decent money for their kits, so design one you lazy ****ers!

Or maybe that's why they use Adidas, much cheaper 'cos they just get to choose the one they like the best from a massive sports bag in the back room of a pub.

I don't know how fashion works, I'm getting desperate.

It's this. Any club can have a unique design if they choose, they just get a worse deal. They chose a template to bag a bigger cut of the profits from sales.

The clubs are to blame, not Adidas.

Agreed. Although the clubs do it to maximise profits and to keep costs down, meaning they make more profit/can afford better players/facilities etc like the fans demand.

So on that premise, the fans are to blame, not the clubs.

(Really all I'm saying is, it's easy to start ranting about Adidas, but it's more complicated than that)

No I didn't take it that way, I'm just surprised clubs don't want a bit of individuality

I guess there's a need to be slightly practical too. I don't suppose many fans who would buy a shirt, would not buy a shirt because it's a template, and overall it makes more financial sense for the less rich clubs.

Our best away kit since the 2009/10 PL season IMO.

    How does it work?

Does the club get a lot of money from adidas for wearing their kit? Never knew how the kit manufacturer deals work

I would have thought that the club buys the kit from Adidas, then sells it to fans at a profit

There must be some sort of benefit though otherwise why not go for a small sports wear company who will design a proper good unique shirt that will sell more?
