So today brought the news that the man who regularly touches MC Hammer has signed a brand spanking new, GINORMOUS contract...This got me thinking about all the little things that led to this point:

    1) Getting relegated meant we encouraged youth and bought young, high potential players.

    2) That youth turned out to be the C word...He stormed the championship and turned heads. It also gave players like Colo n Enrique the chance to shine.

    3) We won the Championship, thus proving to everyone, we weren't 'too big to go down' but we were too big 'to go down without a fight'. We strengthened in the summer with 2 epic acquisitions: Tiote and Ben Arfa.

    4) The confidence from the championship spilled over into this season and C-word was on fire, becoming the highest scoring Englishman and the highest scorer from outside the Top 4...Again he turned heads.

    5) In an attempt to keep our best players we gave him a new, improved contract a month before the transfer window.

    6) This proved in vain and the gypsy went to the bin dippers for a HUGE amount of money.

    7) Tiote meanwhile, kept his head down and kept working, Ben Arfa had already been recruited long term also. THEN Tiote's moment came, the ball dropped to him on the edge of the box and BOOM, BOOM, CHIEK, CHIEK THE ROOM!!! He was able to fully experience the elation and undiluted adoration of a Toon crowd in full flow.

....So, without the relegation, I'm not sure we'd have gone for Tiote. Without Carroll going, I'm not sure we'd have had the finances to sign him up to a long term deal. Without THAT goal against Arsenal, I'm not sure he'd have been *quite* as willing to sign up for so long...

...I wonder what impact this will have on future events. That's gunna be a fair whack of the £30m up front, and Pardew said on Twitter somewhere it's a statement of intent from Ashley...Does the 6 n 1/2 mean anything more than keeping him for so long, or is it so big to mask the dissapointment of losing Enrique or Barton?

Who knows, but ****, it's gunna be an exciting ride finding out!

Cheers for reading, I know it's a bit long!

Keeping with the 'he who shan't be named' theme...

Ronan Keating sang it best with "Life is a Rollercoaster" as it sums up supporting Newcastle perfectly.
