Turned over to see there's 86 minutes on the clock. Not exactly a goalfest so far... but Manucho, what a chance! Must admit I've a soft spot for the vuvuzelas.
Well we are probably one of the least likely teams to score at this WC despite having players from clubs around Europe. Absolutely toothless performance earlier on against Cape Verde. The thing is though, is that it's been this way for nearly a decade. How I would love a performance like the one we put against Spain circa 2002. And I might add, I have four or five vuvuzelas and I blow them often, and loudly. Only a person who has actually tried to use one will understand the satisfaction that comes from driving your neighbours wild with rage.
From 1996 to 2002 I think we were pretty good, not the best but really not bad. Now however I think our domestic leagues are very weak... our best players often leave to play overseas which is not a bad thing BUT there seems to be a sense of entitlement about the national setup and these players often have bad attitudes, i.e. Benni McCarthy who is a cracking player but is fat, egotistical and lazy. I get the sense whenever I watch SA play nowadays, that they are a bunch of talentless mercenaries which is strange because there is a large pool of young talent which is being ignored in SA at the mo. Interesting fact: Arsenal has only ever had 1 South African player, Dan Le Roux who made just 5 appearances for Arsenal in the 1957/58 season. http://www.arsenal.com/history/profiles/592/dan-le-roux
Been watching a few more games from the ACON, and sorry the quality is just not there. Compared to the Euro's and the Copa America, it's amateurish at times.
