It could be good news for us, the shambles that is currently occurring in regards to the hosting of the African Cup of Nations next year. As Morocco have decided against holding it and other possibilities ruling themselves out, it leaves a potential new host to be named in the next few days to arrange a huge tournament in barely a few weeks. At best I would say the tournament will be severely delayed and quite possibly completely postponed. Could end up good for us in regards to Bony, the thought of losing him for anywhere up to a couple of months is scary!

I hadn't given it much thought, but it is just around the corner and I can't see a new host country stepping up and making it all happen that quickly. Good news for us actually. Not sure what the degree of risk is, but I would be somewhat relieved not to have to go there if I didn't have to.

South Africa is probably the only nation that could take it on, but would they risk the influx of the virus? Unlikely.

I think SA have the infrastructure in place due to football World Cup PVRD, and superb rugby venues so they could step up.

I know they're extremely keen to be seen by the world as a leading African Nation, pushing further away from their sordid past, 'saving' the ANC would be the kind of thing they'd want to pursue. Regardless of this though, I doubt there's enough time for them to arrange that stage.

Personally, I think it will be postponed until our summer....great news for us.

But will Bony wabt to go? We are in a great position atm and he's niw finding the net so if he wants a move to a bigger club then surely his best option wiuld be to stay and score as many goals for us while there is more attention on our ckub. Lets be honest, outside of Africa, hiw popular is the ACN?

What we are forgetting is their clubs position in this afterall there is millions of pounds invested in these players and they have the right to refuse their players to be put in a compromising situation. I dont think while there is a risk that not only us but the other premiership clubs will allow their players to go....

    On a truly serious note,

choosing Equatorial Guinea to host the ACN is an insult to humanity and the tournament MUST be boycotted.

EG has an appalling human rights records, one of the worst IN THE WORLD. Ruled by a callous regime; a tiny percent of a percent of the population, which was 'given' 100% of the nations wealth by European and US parliamentary sanction.

This country is petro-$ rich, the wealthiest in Africa, yet its people die in the street from starvation, sickness and infection yet none of this is or even recognised by the ruling political class. They, themselves, don't live on the EG mainland but on the beautiful Island of Bioko, located off the coast of Cameroon, far away from all the suffering.

This little Island has EG's capital city, Malabo, and holds ALL of the nations wealth. No soul from EG mainland is permitted to set foot on this Island unless they are 'tied workers'.

The regime can do what it wants, they are after-all protected by Blue Tin Hats who watch EG's population rot where they drop while, at the same time, supervise, oversee and protect the administration of flow of millions of mega cheap barrels of oil to Europe, Spain and France in particular and the US.

Outside of Petro-$ wealth, owned by US and European investment, EG's main industry is human trafficking. The traffic of humans, worker slave and sex slave, is a bona fide industry in this country.
Don't believe? look it up for yourselves, then you will know.

If that's not enough to boycott the tournament then here's another. Ebola is currently seeping down the West coast of Africa. We are told that EG is in central Africa, but it is centrally situated on the West coast of Africa and if Ebola keeps heading south then EG is directly in its path.

Any sane person should boycott the decision to hold a Football tournament in a country bolstered by human trafficking and with one of the worst human rights records in the world, ever.

I'm very sorry to dump this into your living rooms but I have seen this place first hand, the tournament must not be allowed to happen there.

Equatorial Guinea actually jointly held the 2012 African Cup of Nations, successfully too. So I don't think teams will be able to withhold players for political reasons, which is not to say I don't agree with what has been posted above. But in terms of the dangers of Ebola, I think there is enough of a risk factor to allow clubs to keep their players back. But let's be honest, would any of us really be surprised if the footballing powers that be, ruled that clubs are not allowed to hold players back for this reason?!

The disgusting president Obiang, who has retained power since 1979 will now bask in the glory of this tournament. It will mean nothing to the general population who struggle to survive whilst he,his family, friends and sycophants continue to steal the oil revenues, which run into billions of dollars annually.
This bastard makes Sani Abacha,ex Nigerian president, seem like a nice guy.
Africa is stacked high with verminous despots, and Obiang sits at the very top of the pile.

I doubt anyone with Ebola will be thinking of heading to a football match.

USA got the World cup and no-one boycotted that. They have one of the worst human rights record of anyone.
