Saw some tweets on Twitter for this. The fans on board had to get off and wait for a new coach but Arsenal took them into their restaurant and looked after them whilst it came so bravo to them. Normally when this sort of thing happens, the drivers get relieved of their duties. Siesta (who do coaches to South of France and Spain) recently got a load of new half a million pound coaches for one of their most experience drivers to crash one on the first week and he was let go.
@acklams: @acklams all passengers back safely from @Arsenal after a tough day. All passengers where great in a trying situation @hullcity 26 minutes ago.
Can you enlighten us a bit more? This was a very expensive brand new coach and I don't suppose the driver hit a bollard on purpose do you? I was stood on that roundabout before our league game earlier this season and the bollards are everywhere and it is a very tight corner even for a mini bus never mind a big coach like that one. I don't suppose you were on the bus eh Hat? or even at the game?
More wum-ming eh Hat ? Just for your info Nowt to do with Allam and not even the team bus. It was Tiger Travel bus one. The driver totally messed this up and caused the damage. No excuse just bad driving ffs. I know as i was behind the bus as it happened. The other Acklams buses (3) got passed the bollard without any problems at all.
That's a bit harsh. Unless there is evidence of him exceeding hours, insufficient breaks or careless driving he shouldn't be sacked for that. After all, that's why they pay for insurance. PS Well done to Arsenal for looking after our fans.
I was surprised too. Another of the drivers was telling me and my dad a couple of years ago when we used their services.
