Really don't have any idea first game. Will be interesting to see how Accrington get on, normally the jump from L2 to L1 gets met with relegation the following season. We soon learned the big boys don't work in this league and you need a fair bit of pace, not that i'm pretending to know Stanley's set up. As for us, can't say that i'm looking forward to this game so going for a draw, more in hopeful desperation ... 1-1 Reilly Btw been looking at the fixture listing, ive gone and cocked up and booked something for our first home game so will be dependent on a number of factors whether i make it! Otherwise for those usually interested it will be defo Wimbledon for me, always love this fixture.
Like I've said on another thread, I've not read too much into our preseason form. Definitely feel they've been holding back from giving a big performance for the league season. Accrington Stanley (who are they?) 1-2 Gillingham (Kee; Wilkinson & Charles-Cook)
Accrington 0 Gills 0...........posted from a scorching SW France. (I know it's been pretty good back in the UK since May......enjoy!!)
Pre season form counts for little but recruitment counts for a lot. Lovell needed to do 4 things; 1 Find a decent fullback to rival O'Neill and Garmston. 2. Find a midfielder who might contribute say,10 goals. 3 Find a midfelder capable of showing a bit of guile to open a defence. 4 Find a frontman who might fit alongside Eaves and maybe replace him if someone comes along with a chequebook. None of these 4 things have happened and those exiting after last season look a whole lot better than what is arriving. Parrett has some quality, Rees may come good as a goalscorer, Bingham might regain his skills, but really the rest of them look lightweight. Things look distinctly ominous. Accrington Stanley 2-0 Gills (Kee, Jackson)
Pre-season friendlies against lower opposition don't necessarily tell you a lot, but it's all we've got to go on. The new lads showed some signs of skill in one game, and then looked like a donkey in the next, having some consistency is yet again going to be a problem. I still believe we are poor defensively and give the opposition too much room in and around the area, I realise our defensive stats from last season look good, but if you look deeper total shots and shots on target against us were poor, only Holy kept our record looking good. As always I will shoot myself in the foot by refusing to put us down to lose. Accrington Stanley 1 v 2 Gillingham (Jackson, Hanlan, Parker)
At the end of last season I was looking forward to this one as a replacement for the Oldham & Bury games. Then the fixtures came out and I made a considered decision not to cancel my holiday in order to get to it. So, from the delights of sunny Tuscany I send my apologies to those I'll miss on Saturday, and hope that we can pull off our second away win at Accrington in their present incarnation. Accrington 1 - 3 Gillingham (Parrett, Wilkinson, Byrne)
Hope we don't get relegated and get a few points in the bag and stay mid-table and I will be happy. So on that note Who are they 1 v 3 The Mighty BLUESSSSSSSS (Eaves, Parret, Parker Zanzala)
