Afternoon. Liverpool Football Club today posted a loss of ã20M for the financial year ending July 2010. This was the last full year the club was under the ownership of Tom Hicks and George Gillett. The figures show that whilst revenue increased to ã184M, net debt increased to ã123M which incurred interest payments of ã17M. Clearly, the takeover by Fenway Sports Group has taken out the debt and therefore the interest payments. These results also don't include the record shirt sponsorship deal with Standard Chartered which is worth around ã20M per season for four seasons. Our managing director, Ian Ayre, has also assured that the future is a lot brighter under the ownership of Fenway Sports Group. Your thoughts?
I read this this morning on liverpool's website and Soccernet.com. I am eagerly awaiting for KPR and Swarbs to pull out the accountant cards and go at it. Get the popcorn, it is almost showtime! Oh and aren't we still paying some interest but it is a very small amount that we are now turning profit? Something like that? Accountants help me out.
I think we are paying a very small amount of interest. I would suspect a couple of million maybe? Still, the future seems very bright with Fenway Sports Group in charge.
ya we are in a much better position now where we can acutally try to make some money. There was a little side note on the decision about Anfield and I think it will come down to, can Anfield still be money maker for the club and then the fact of do the fans want to move or stay.
I'm torn between Anfield and Stanley park. On the one hand, when other clubs have moved it's never been the same and the atmosphere has been all wrong. We wouldn't want to lose that at anfield. Although, if it means more revenue it could mean more money to spend on signings and so increase our chances for premier league title. Tough decisions, but I can respect FSG for whichever one they choose.
next years accounts still wont provide a full account of how good FSG has been for us as it will include 3 months of H&G ownership. Although, I still expect an extremley healthy profit
On the subject of the stadium issue, I think we all know that whatever decision the club makes, it will be in the interest of Liverpool Football Club in the long-term. We have to respect that decision even if we don't like the decision.
I think they might find a way for anfield to be redeveloped and to add those extra seats. The new stadiums just don't feel the same do they? Juve are abou tto leave Stadio Della Alpi as they hated it! This wonderful stadium that was built for the 1990 world cup and they already moving out as they don't like it. Shows that the biggest and brightest aren't always the best.
No surprise in those set of accounts. In fact considering Hicks track record, could have been a lot worse. Its fair to say, that FSG won't allow those sorts of figure's to be replicated again. The shirt deal, kit maker, direction being taken all positives.
The thing is we're going to be told next the 2010/2011 figures are going to include ''Court fees''.Erm no they won't.Liverpools court fees have been billed to Tom Hicks. In civil law,the loser(Hicks) must pay the winners(Liverpool) court fees as well as his own. That includes Liverpools solicitors as well as his own.Seeing as when he went to court,He no longer owned Liverpool when it went to court,It comes out of his pocket and not the clubs. He's going to have to get used to visiting court,as he's been sued by Martin Broughton.
