Vaguely, he scored against Wales a few months ago. He's pretty good, he can attack a cross (something our current strikers aren't doing) but I haven't seen much of his hold up play, so I don't know if he'd suit playing as a lone frontman. This said, I think our problem lies more in our creativity than our strikers so that's where I'd be looking first. If he's available on the cheap then he gets my approval.
Think he's playing as a lone striker for Nantes and is fairly strong. Stats are pretty mediocre until he suddenly came good the last year or so. Everton were linked last month. Sounds like one being touted by his agent.
8 in 14 23 in 34 last season according to french papers , Lazio have got a deal in place to take him in the summer.
I'd rather see us move for a tried & tested PL player but they are few & far between, so I suppose it's a hit & hope job. It just worries me that we have signed Sagbo from France & he's not exactly setting the world on fire. I'm really surprised that there's not some decent players in Holland or in the Nordic countries. Hopefully if we get him then he'll be good. I think we need a couple of good results to keep us ahead of the rest of the relegation lot, December was always going to be a big ask anyway, but it'll make or break our season IMO. If we can stay far enough ahead then he may see us as a better option to Palace.
I always thought we should have gone for this guy in the summer but now he's injured http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/alfred-finnbogason/profil/spieler_90024.html
People keep saying that, but I don't agree. I think our strikers are just making really poor choices. Plus Elmohamady has looked a bit off the pace. When we have Brady/Huddlestone/Livermore/Boyd who are all creative - you need a striker to gamble on space, and finding positions in the box where they might get a chance. I haven't seen any of that from any of our centre forwards this season. Look at the way Jerome for Palace danced past our defence and put across a simple ball for Bannan to finish. I can't remember the last time we had a centre forward who could do that. I wish we had signed Jerome - he looked a decent player.
People blame the creativity but if you ask any forward or midfielder 90% of creating a chance is the run from the striker. The pass itself is the easy part. You could argue our strikers arent making the right runs.
Posted this in the other striker thread, City gonna break transfer record for Striker. http://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/Hull...y-break-club/story-20239162-detail/story.html
And i'll repeat my reply: Doesnt say that really does it? it says they might be prepared to. Bruce even says he hasnt had that conversation with the Allams but if he wants to he assumes it's there. Talk about journalistic licence....
Actually, i'm more concerned that the Allam's are doing the negotiations after the Shane Long changes in the Summer.
Thing is, we were about 30 minutes shy of breaking the transfer record in August, we are after the most expensive commodity (a goalscorer) and at the most expensive time (January). So saying we will break the transfer record isn't exactly shocking, surely?
Bit late but thought Id add a bit context to this: The Eredivisie, Dutch League, has pretty much been stripped of its strikers/wingers last summer. Bony went to Swansea, Lens went to Dynamo Kiev, Altidore to Sunderland, Mertens to Napoli and Ryan Babel to Kasimpasa. The ones that remain are good enough for the Dutch league, like Pelle, Sigthorsson, Matavz and Castaignos, but all have proven that they can be a hit and miss when transferring to a new club. Finnbogason is currently the only striker that is almost ready for a move, but I'm afraid the guy lost the plot a bit, already tried to force his way out of Heerenveen this summer after one great season. Bit worrisome.
