Would you say the season is a success if we don't hit the play offs especially with the quality at LJs disposal.
I can’t vote in this poll because it depends on whether we attain a higher position than last season. Also, the resources that LJ has had also need to be compared with the resources available to our competitors. Compared to Brentford for example he’s not doing well at all, whereas compared to Fulham he’s not doing badly considering the amount of money they’ve spent.
it is going to be interesting … the squads likely to be available are going to almost 1005 to start with .. bit like a new season … and that's when teams like the bottom 6 tend to figure stronger and some top 6 fare less well
I can't cast a vote because I am biased, of course being a Bristol City fan I want our team to gain promotion and I think LJ has been a lucky boy, read into that what you like, if we fail or succeed it's down to the head coach, either way I hope he gets his just rewards and I admit I wrote this with careful thoughts.
Not interested in other sides-just city do you think it is acceptable with the squad he has had at his disposal if he does not hit the play offs.
Football is about more than winning its also about not being bored by it! Wont be voting as I too think LJ is a lucky lucky boy. !!
Not sure where luck comes into it.........He's a decent manager at a decent club, with a decent team in a decent league and i would say in a decent position in that league.....why's he lucky?
would have to ask the same question why is he lucky … I would trend toward being unlucky .. odd injury [including a real smack in the mouth with AFOBE … the positions of current teams and results throughout the first 37 games show how much of a minefield the championship has been. what we could see is the teams that have had players on fire might suddenly wish they still were! Millwall is tipped to do well over the next 9 ...well they do have probably one of the easiest run ins … Leeds I believe one of the toughest! Luck is going on a walk and dropping a fiver half a mile further on finding a tenner unlucky is someone walking the other way and dropping a tenner only to find further on a fiver!.
I’m more ‘Pro-LJ’ than some on here, but I think Lee HAS been fortunate - to have Steve Lansdowne as his boss. Not many club owners would have tolerated that long losing streak but SL did and we came out the other side a decent championship side fighting at the right end of the table. Of course it’s impossible to say what would have happened to us - or Lee - had he been sacked back then. Edit- and lucky the COVID break happened when it did - so Afobe had time to finish his recovery. ... mind you, if they go down with COVID now it would be the opposite of lucky!!!
ok not picking on the decent(he isn't clueless) there but you didnt use good or great just decent so here it goes.. here is why I think he is lucky. He has no promotions on his cv. So this decent Manager still got a job here. This decent Manager chalked up the clubs worst run in history. He has had more money than any other Manager in BCFC history to spend. He has also a owner who is prepared to run up the clubs biggest debts in its history with decent LJ running the team. New ground more or less as well and new facilities. Then there is the beyond results his football???? who knows what he will play and how. i am bored by it and have gone from 35 games a season happy to shell out silly sums for train journeys sometimes of £90 up North to barely going anymore and missing home games to watch the paint dry at home disagree?? all fine but I think there is quite a bit of fortunate in there.
The only decent manager since Alan Dicks, keeping us playing & competing in the 2nd tier of English football the longest...
Other sides impact how well we do , no matter how good we are if others are better We aren’t going to make the playoffs, no matter how good our squad is if others are better, & remember many have the benefits of parachute payments , it’s a really tough league
He’s done really well to get us to the level we are at considering every season he has to pretty much start from scratch having sold his best players, that’s not easy. The question remains though is he good enough to get us promotion & If we aren’t successful this season, how much longer is he given . I’ve given both questions a good deal of thought , unfortunately I don’t think he will get us promotion, so the question remains how much longer will he be given. I think as long as he continues year on year improvement I think he has until the end of next season to achieve promotion before SL will Give someone else a chance.
Aside from the likes of Leeds, WBA, Derby (and the like, although not guaranteed) all the other clubs in the Championship always have to sell their best assets when the big boys come calling. We're not a special case.
