I think investing in youth will be very important for our long-term survival in the premier league we need to start developing are own talent. Apart from Streling(unproven) who was sold off to Liverpool who was the last decent player to come through are ranks? It nice to nice a couple of the youngsters going on the asia tour would be great to see some of them making the step up into the first team in the next couple years. Would really like to see us setup first-class academy rather than endlessly shell out millions every transfer window. Specially as weâre gonna be spending loads on a new stadium. We donât want to go the same way as the other rangers. http://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/rangers-set-to8-receive-academy93-boost
Trouble is we could be a whole generation away due to the lack of Academy status from the past. We will get there just might take 5 plus years to see one.
The club are doing it right, get stabilised in the PL and then look out for youth. I highly doubt we will see any difference unless we poach someone from another club. I would also hope the club educated our players better than the past because weve had a lot of stupid players come out of the youth system, get their 1st contract and become a billy big bollocks only to never be heard of again. Baidoo Jones Those kids who killed the asian student They didnt exactly cover themselves in glory.
YOu only have to turn on QPR player and watch what the club is doing out there at the moment ... they picked up two promising prospects while running the community program!. Also players on the video looking cool and sharp ... I really hope Jay Bothroyd and SWP shut a few up this season. I still have the faith these are both very good footballers
He would have been banged up for causing death by dangerous driving if he had survived. The kids need to be told they arent going to make it if they do stupid things. its pretty clear they werent being advised by anyone.
hHas it not been that way for decades now though? I mean footballers have earnt large amounts of money for a long time now and I believe due to the improvement of technology ie internet, camera phones and the like that it has become more noticable what they are doing. I am not sure it is due to him being a footballer he drove like he did as I have seen teenagers who are not footballers killed in crashes due to driving like nobs. Is it not our fault that these kids get a false sense of their own importance when we the fans make them feel like kings and shout their names loud and proud. The problem is not just with our club, or even the game of football but rather society as a whole.
yep the future of our club lies in bringing young players in like we did in the past ie allen, goddard, big mac etc. i cant wait for the day when we start bringing the young un,s through!
Yes it was the clubs fault, what do you expect to happen when you give a a poor inner city kid a few grand a week? Hes going to blow it all and party and get mixed in with the wrong crowd and hangers on. Every other club manages to do it with the odd exception like Nile Ranger.
It doesnt really matter what ag they are if they have a self destruct button then at some point it will be pressed. I mean would the past great players be looked upon with such reverance nowadays.. Bowles, Best etc who partied hard, gambled, smoked etc. I admit giving a few grand to any kid will make them think big time yes but it is across the country look at that kid at Man Utd and thats with a record like sir Alex, the kid at Chelsea who we turned away there are loads of them but we hear about the bad eggs from our cub as we follow them more closely. I think there needs to be more done to create a wage structure of sorts especially for youngsters that are coming through. This could potentially stop the big clubs monopolising them and potentially reduce the we have made it syndrome kids have. I have a mate whose ex is a player who due to injury has dropped down the leagues but he is young and would rather spend money on a car than on his two kids. The children of today need educating about money, finances and life skills whether a footballer or not.
Of course they do but when you give a 16 year old 2 grand a week, things are going to go onto a different level. They can afford to party, do drugs, buy an over powered car etc. They are going to have lots of other kids pressure them into doing stuff. On a purely financial front, the club needs to protect its investment.
"It's good as it gives Mark a lot of time to gel the squad as obviously there are a lot of new faces that haven't played with each other. "It is not going to be perfect to start off the season but we seem to be doing the right things there. Maybe two or three more signings are left and then we're done - and, I think, done for a while actually because we would then have a good nucleus for a long time. "The work then has to start on the academy and bringing through kids, who started at QPR at 11 and go all the way up. "That has been a poor end of QPR as we haven't had many players progress from the academy to the club itself." Good to hear TF say that.
