Always interesting to see who among the youngsters the Gaffer includes in the main squad pre-season training. Probably not a surprise to see on the first day back Luca de la Torre, Steven Sessegnon and Marlon Fossey. An unexpected inclusion though is 17 year old Tyrese Francois. Not because of his undoubted talent and performances when he stepped up to the U23s but because he's only just back from an injury. Oh, and do believe the ever young Cauley Woodrow can also be spotted in the gallery of photos posted by the Club - http://www.fulhamfc.com/news/2018/july/02/first-day-back
17 year old midfielder Sonny Hilton has signed his first professional contract with the Club. The young lad from Liverpool has represented England at U16 level.
And our very own penalty saving, penalty taking king Luca Ashby-Hammond has also signed his first professional contract with the Club.
Others their first professional contracts are: Ben Davis - the young man who broke into the Singapore national squad last year Jaydn Mundle-Smith - the young man beginning to challenge the U23 centre backs Elias Frei - the young man who is showing the same skills as older brother Kerim
Not so good news for Ben. His application to defer his national service has been rejected. The family are set to appeal in hope of allowing him to continuing his development so that he can achieve his potential. All best wishes to them. One to watch. Michael Olakigbe signed today from QPR. A year ago the youngster was playing grassroots football but after an enterprising season with them up the road we've jumped in for the right winger. please log in to view this image
Congratulations to Jean-Pierre TIEHI on signing his first professional contract - 3 years. Sure it had nothing to do with him scoring against Swansea on Saturday !
I think this is the trialist that impressed me at the U18s game at Bournemouth. Assuming that's correct, I'm really pleased to see us sign him; he looked strong, powerful, skilful and clever with the ball. All that was missing that day was the goals, and it looks like he made up for that against Sunday.
Quite a few new faces among our U18s. The list of "Scholars" for 2018/19 are: * Terry Ablade (from Jazz FC in Finland) * Cameron Antwi * Fabio Carvalho (England U16 Youth International) * Tristian Cover (England U16 Youth International) * Cody Drameh * Sylvester Jasper (England U16 Youth International) * Connor McAvoy * Jonathan Page * Jean-Pierre Tiehi (from Le Havre France - and as confirmed in posts above has now signed professional forms) * Riley Warland (from Australia's Perth Glory) * George Wickens (England U16 Youth International)
Harvey Elliot is in the England U16 squad for the UEFA Development Tournament being played at St Georges. The side take on Scotland and Egypt.
Harvey played and England beat Scotland 1-0. Reading defender Lynford Sackey getting the goal. NB the England manager - Kevin Betsy
Harvey played again last Thursday in the 2-1 win over Turkey as England U16s take the tournament silverware. Noah Ohio and Alex Robertson of Man City got the goals. [Young Harvey turned out again this morning for our U18s v Southampton.]
Following the departure of Peter Grant the Club have confirmed that: "Steve Wigley, Head of Academy Coaching will continue to lead the Academy's coaching programme. Mark Pembridge remains with the Under-23s and Colin Omogbehin continues to take charge of the Under-18s. They are both supported by Head of Academy Goalkeeping and PDP Coach, Vic Bettinelli."

It's Sparkasse Cup time again. If you recall last year we got to the semi-final before being knocked out by Man Utd. please log in to view this image The lads travelled to Gottingen in Germany today, with the tournament kicking off tomorrow evening through to Sunday. The other teams in our qualifying Group are: Mainz, Düsseldorf, Eint. Höhßernssee, SC Hainberg, JFV Rhume-Oder and SVG Einbeck ManU, the only other British club, are there again and are in what is potentially the stronger of the two Groups. An U19 competition the squad representing us is: Luca Ashby-Hammond Zico Asare Cody Drameh Scott Armsworth Connor McAvoy Ryan De Havilland Fabio Carvalho Tyrese Francois Cameron Thompson Nicolas Santos-Clase Sonny Hilton Ben Davis
Great start for the lads in the Sparkasse Cup qualifying group with two wins out of two. In the first game tonight they beat JFV Rhume-Oder 5-2. The local German side went ahead from a penalty before Tyrese Francois scored twice. The German's equalised but Francois, relishing the fast pace of the five-a-side game, completed his hat trick to put us back in front. Nicolas Santos-Clase and Ben Davis added the icing on the cake. The second match was against another local team, SC Hainberg. Quick out of the block our lads went four up in short shrift - a double from Sonny Hilton followed by one each from Cameron Thompson and Ben Davis. The German's did get one back but Santos-Clase got another for us to round the evening off with an emphatic 5-1 win.
It's 3 out of 3 as the lads beat SVG Einbeck 6-0. A hat trick for Nicolas Santos-Clase and one each for Fabio Carvalho, Tyrese Francois and Sonny Hilton.
