I'm probably getting slightly ahead of myself, but my understanding is that Pompey have a category 3 academy.... what would it take to turn it into a category 2 academy?

At the rate we are currently going, it'll take about 58/59 days to reach the target. Maybe 57, but I'm not a mathematician and that's just an estimate.

Maybe time of the year and time of the month is impacting - would imagine most holidays have to be paid up this month and payday is still a week away. Apparently contributions have already come from something like 17 countries, including Ghana.
