AC Milan midfielder Kaka has asked to go without pay as he recovers from a thigh injury picked up in his first game since rejoining the Italian side.

"I don't want anything from Milan, except for love and support, until I'm fully fit and ready to play," he said.

"For this reason I have decided to suspend my current pay for this period of time. The only thing I ask is for the support and help to recover properly.

"It is a difficult moment but I have started to work on getting better and I hope to get back as quickly as possible."

Incredible, in the world of greedy footballers, we have an honest and upright gentleman. Good on you Ricardo Izecson dos Santos Leite.

That American defender a few years ago who played for AC Milan did the same. Maybe it's something about AC Milan and their ettiquette towards players that makes them feel this way.

It could be. Interesting it's come from another player playing for AC Milan. Does anyone know of any players that have done simular in the Prem?

If Diaby stepped up to the plate he would damage his metatarsal

On a serious point, what must it feel like for players like Diaby that never hardly play?
    For Arsenal: 2005-2013
Appeared about 123 times in the Prem and subbed on 31 times and subbed off 44 times, so not many full games either.

Kaka is great bloke and honest professional, rarely if ever gets in trouble on the field and is a great person off it. I watched a documentary on him once.

Brazilians seem to have a habit of being great when they're younger but then fading early..

I've noticed the same thing: Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Kaka... and probably many more.

what a top bloke - if only all the famous "sick notes" of the past had been as moral.

    lets start a list -
Jonathon Woodgate spent most of Real Madrid career and elsewhere on treatment table

    Sicknote Anderson Spurs

    Diaby Arsenal

Caroll - Newcastle, Liverpool, West Ham

Did you know that Darren Anderton played 501 first team matches in his career? Nor did I... how many would he have played if he'd not had those injuries?

and Michael Owen should be added (Newcastle Man Utd and Stoke)
and RVP until 2 years ago!

    Top bloke as already mentioned.

It would have been even better if he donated his wages to a sports charity (or any charity) whilst he's injured. But either way, it shows that some players aren't all about greed. Saying that he's absolutely minted so I doubt he'll miss it too much!!

501 matched no f@king way - he should have been sponsored by Levis ! <rofl>

yes agree with Owen for last few seasons

yes agree with RVP - sicknote for the whole of his Arsenal career except 1 season, we support him during this time and then he f@cks off
