Good, hope teams continue to walk off in the face of racism, why should they entertain people who don't deserve it. Yes it's extreme but it's the only way to guarantee that the club who's fans are guilty will have to take action to stop it happening again.

Milan will probably get fined by FIFA now...

Fair play to them, about time someone took a stance.

I take it that it was a friendly too (video is blocked) as it's the winter break. Somehow that seems even harsher by the Pro Patria fans.

Thats a bit of a clumsy statement from me there, but I think you know what I mean.

 

I doubt Milan will get fined, but even if they do it's a step in the right direction.

They wouldn't dare walk out of a CL , Serie A or Coppa Italia game.

Easy to make a statement when you have nowt to lose.

Not really a courageous statement at all- maybe give a week of their wages to famine relief would be more more 'brave'?

 

Is it really that difficult to apprehend the 4 spectators doing the heckling? Given Italian football's more controlled entry systems (believe many if not all must have a 'tessera' ID card to get in), as well as these tv pics, I should imagine the authorities must already have their names.

 

Nobody said it was 'a couragous statement' or 'brave', the only consensus here is that it was the right thing to do and that we hope other teams follow suit if in a similiar situatuion. I hope it does happen in a competitive game in the future if racist chanting occurs, but this is the first time in my knowledge a major team has taken this action so we're applauding it.

Maybe they wouldn't walk off during a cl game, maybe they would; but if nothing else its planted a seed. A big team has walked away from racist chanting. Maybe more teams will feel able to go that in the future...

Sorry mate but you're pretty misguided if you think the Italian authorities really give a **** about racism, especially local police in certain areas; more likely to be doing the chanting on their days off than locking people up for it!

Lega Nord is a mainstream political party over there and has been a component party along with Forza Italia of the governing majority.

Your grasp on Italian politics is rather basic. The political landscape over there is much more idiosyncratic and ambiguous than our own dumbed-down toytown corrupt politics which we ludicrously hold up to the rest of Europe as being something for them to envy and aspire to.

 

Not really. The two are very different in levels of sophistication.

Italy is a very complex county politically and constitutionally, which makes alliances and deal-making almost mandatory . The mafia have infiltrated the ways of doing business especially tendering for any public works ('appalti') or infrastructure investments. There is a lot of 'corruption' in Italy but there are many decent and honest people in politics, business & the police to a level that easily exceeds GB.

You can also walk the streets at night, people are polite, friendly, sophisticated and clean.

In short, not so many fat ****s with attitude stinking the gaff out.
