http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-23213740 Hate preacher Abu Qatada has finally been booted out of Britain. He arrived in the Middle East at 8am, so hopefully the Jordanian authorities will have his balls clamped and wired up to a nice, powerful generator by now.
If he's such a danger to the country, wouldn't it have been better to keep him in a British prison where we can keep an eye on the beardy-weirdy funster?

I feel funny about this. I mean I think we should definitely get rid of credulous hate filled twats, but we've still got about 29,999,999 of them left in the country - so it's hard to get excited about getting rid of one.
I haven't bothered to go have a look, but I'd be pretty certain as I write the Daily Mail comment section is getting filled with people who are almost as stupid as this preacher claiming moral victory, lambasting the government for the cost, blaming the EU, and saying we need to remove lots more brown people from our once great country.
Well to be fair I did propose several years ago that 80% of the general public are morons, so I would probably agree with you on the figure, perhaps not on the hate filled part, certainly on the high number of twats..

Yup, there really is nothing like a press hyped boogeyman to start people gleefully and myopically forfeiting their human rights as enshrined in law. Not a pleasant individual, of that there is no doubt, but it would be interesting to hear the squealing of many of these individuals claiming this a victory for common sense, who find their options severely reduced in preventing their rendition to somewhere they will find their nipples attached to a car battery on something as ambiguous as "terrorism charges".
It's the "it is OUR country" brigade which drive me nuts, the surreptitious mental conscription of everyone they deem British enough into a 'we' and we are all against 'them' - when the actual 'we' and 'them' should be 'not ignorant' vs 'ignorant' - as in if you believe in some Islamic sky fairy and want to coerce others into your belief system then you belong with 'them', likewise when you believe in the superiority of your own culture and race (despite contributing nothing at all to its sum positive qualities) then you belong to 'them', since your aim is also to coerce others towards your own insularism.
Jakey - Theresa May agreed a treaty with Jordan that Abu Qatada would not be tortured and that no evidence obtained through torture would be used in his trial, this was enough to satisfy the European Circus of Human Rights. In no way does this erode our human rights. Mike - this is not about British people not wanting muslims in Britain, it's about not wanting islamist clerics radicalising youths through preaching hatred and incitement to murder.
