Looks like the self obsessed Premier League clubs are once again trying to shaft the rest of the league system once again for their own gains.. So recently we've had Liverpool wanting to change the TV rights so they (and the so called bigger clubs) can gain more revenue at their fellow Prem clubs expense. Some Premier League clubs wanting to end relegation and promotion to the Prem , and now this.... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/15381652.stm Absolute joke and a definite case of "I'm allright Jack, who gives a sh#t about you ?"
This stinks, but that is football , no longer a sport but a business and it has been for a long while...........what is wrong with the free market economy, Premiership club A says to lower league club B "we want to sign young player X" club B says this is the price..............if club A won't pay it, well if player X is any good someone will..................the player might moan "you robbed me of my chance to play at the top level" The answer is simple.................if they really rated you, well they would have met our valuation. Transfer money is the life blood of a lot of teams outside the premiership, cut this off and a lot of teams will fold. You could have a smug bunch of premiership teams, but suddenly no "feeder" divisions below them.............then the 5 or 6 teams that have a chance of Champions League football would start to pillage the smaller premiership teams for their better players, a drop in quality all around apart from 5 or 6 teams..................what the powers that be need to realise is that more people watch teams outside the premiership week in week out than watch premiership football............fans are the lifeblood of the game, even now and this will alienate them even more. The greedy premiership clubs are shooting themselves in the foot with this proposal and don't seem to have the sense to see it. Let the premiership break away if they want, I'm getting to the stage where I don't give a monkey's chuff anymore...............and when the lunatics are in charge of the asylum, let the smaller premiership clubs that have been "muscled out" come cap in hand begging to join "our" league.........then tell them to bog off, what the "big six" don't seem to realise is they need the rest of us more than we need them. Sod 'em let Manure and the rest of the "big boys" play Barca, Real Madrid and Bayern a couple of times a season...........the very nature of these fixtures will price their core support out of attending games.................and fans will soon get fed up of tuning in on Sky for the sixth episode of the Manure v Barca saga, what will happen to the TV money then? Let the greedy bastards vote for this, it will be like turkeys voting for Christmas, End of Rant
ridiculous money making ideas like this are one side effect of english owners selling off clubs to foreign businessmen who view their clubs purely as businesses, and will look to increase revenues and the value of their assets. the only two exeptions are chelsea and man city, the rest of them are in it purely to make money. it goes without saying that the idea of replicating the MLS model of no promotion and relegation would ruin our game, and i'm glad that people like redknapp and whelan have publicly spoken against it.
It's all about... Nice rant Proph btw
They will only think it's a great idea until they get relegated & it will never happen anyway. As for the tv rights I actually think it's a good idea that the clubs be able to negotiate their own matches abroad as at the moment it is the same teams over & over again (here in the US anyway) on tv and it might give the smaller clubs in the premiership some airtime and let the rest of the world know that there are more than 6 teams in the league. A good example of the ridiculousness is the FA cup semi final a couple of years ago, the only way I could watch it live was on a spanish speaking (Mexican) station, at least the final was on PPV. Just my opinion of course so don't beat me up over it.
Yes we have medical marijuana dispensaries here & no I'm not a bible basher, born & bred in Barry & only been here 7 years. The point is it is on tv and some of us would like to be able to watch some football besides manure and we don't all live within driving distance of Cardiff anymore, quite a few judging by this site. Tried watching MLS but it's pretty soul less so you might get a bit bored but the american football (NFL) is very watchable (never thought I would say that).
This is criminal. It will rip the soul out of the Football League. I find it hard that we've all just accepted it. Once they start nicking good young talent on the cheap it will ruin us.
Guys, also I run the Palace fanzine Five Year Plan. We are selling anti EPPP t shirts and putting the money towards future protests. They are £9.99 and lots of Palace fans already have them and wear them to games, would be good if we could get fans of other clubs wearing them! http://www.fiveyearplanfanzine.co.uk/vmchk/FYP-Merchandise/EPPPIC-FAIL-T-Shirt/flypage.tpl.html
