Was listening to the various pundits the radio on the way home after the game (Ian Wright et al) and they were discussing the various teams who are likely to be involved in relegation battle - including us, no surprise. The pundits were explaining how the various teams could manage to survive, Burnley included. But when it came to us - 'Relegation!'. No ifs or buts. According to them we are done. Apparently there is disharmony in the camp plus the usual lack of chemistry and skill. I know that anything can happen, but are we really down the swanny?!
We all have views on various pundits, but that's not my point. It was strange to hear a definitive answer on our premier league status prospect. That's all.
Bizarre response. In your OP you ask a question based on punditry and then, on your second post, call it a definitive answer? What's the point of this thread?
I observed the opposite to disharmony today when we scored. The players looked very together. Its Bond and Jordan's prehistoric methods that are the problem
Yes of course there's disharmony. Some players at the club think SWP has been shabbily treated. Others think he's been taking the piss for far too long. They're horribly split on this. 24 to 1. His agent (step forward, Ian don't be shy now) has been spilling the dirt to anyone who will listen in the hope that someone will listen. I think we the long suffering fools who paid good money to watch SWP fall over the ball hope as well that someone will put him out of his misery. Hang on a minute Wright Phillips, Ian Wright. Are they related in some way? Does that answer your question?
We are the worst team in the league. I know it's painful to admit. But have you seen a side so toothless in attack and so fragile at the back? Not burnley, Leicester, Palace. As it stands we will finish bottom.
After just five games that is indeed a sweeping statement. If we finish bottom at the end of the season, I will agree with you, but until then let's wait and see. If anyone thought this season would be easy they are seriously deluded!
Two fortunate 4-0 away defeats, (fortunate in that they could easily have been 8-0) and three home games against opponents we should be beating if we are to finish above the relegation zone. I would say simonstainrod's assessment is fairly accurate. Name me three worse sides in the Premier League, it's difficult to name one...
My point is that we may not be great at present but surely a little early to be writing us off completely
we are by far the worst team in the league at the moment. While 'wrighty' is a cretin, its interesting that while Leicester, burnley, west brom and all regularly get appraised for their chances, no pundits seem to give us a passing mention. The assumption of our demise is near universal
Telford - It's not a judgement I am making, merely stating what some of pundits were saying. It is a statement for discussion.
Great point re:SWP and the link to Ian Wright. But it wasn't actually him saying we are as good as relegated. Wish I caught the name of the guys that were saying it.
Precisely. Pundits, and particularly Ian Wright, are paid to be controversial, make outrageous comments. No self respecting pundit, would make such a prediction, until Christmas.
So did any of those who were saying there's dischord in the camp have anything concrete to back it up? Or was it just lazy punditry? That aside, with barely 10% of the season gone, it's way to early for despair. A point a game should keep us up and we're only one behind schedule with two of our hardest away fixtures out of the way. Come the end of November we'll be a third of the way through. If we're significantly behind 13/14 points at this stage, then I'll start worrying.
Ballix. You was peddling the same sh*te last season Sooper, that we were dropping like a stone and would be lucky to get midtable. I told you then that we'd go up and not only that but we'd stay up the following year. That remains the case. A blind man can see that we won't go down this year, let alone finish bottom. Some of you boys should just put yourselves out of your misery because you are the most negative kants I've ever come across
Possibly a bit blunt. Pre-season most of us went for 15-17th, and this is what it looks like. We will lose more than we win and, unless we hit a sensational or abysmal run of form, we're roundabout where we'll spend most of the season I'd guess.
