I, for the life of me, cannot understand why people can't go to the football just to watch the game, and if the person next to you happens to support the opposition ...Big Deal. I live in Australia, and during our National games season (AFL)we can have close to 100,000 people in the MCG watching the game, incident free. Why, in the UK,and the rest of Europe do you have to be segregated as if your uncontrollable animals. I just don't understand it. :undecided:

While i don't agree with lobbing things at them, kicking them down the stairs or hitting them, they shouldn't be in the opponents end and secondly, they shouldn't wear the oppositions shirts/ scraves whilst being there.

If the glory hunters were so desperate to see their team without going to Anfield, Stamford Bridge, Emirates, Old Trafford etc, they should've remained quiet and just watched them. But no they inflame the situation by doing this- the same thing happened when we went to Anfield, and a kid and his dad in the City end were carrying Liverpool stuff and were escorted out by the stewards after celebrating their goals, infront of the City fans.

These thing sdon't happen in Aussie football becuase there isn't a history of football violence like there is in the UK. Plus you don't get it in other sports.

You're asking for it if you do this sort of thing. Or are these people so ****ing daft that they try it on then whinge about it afterwards?

Nowt wrong with sitting in the home end, I've brought mates with me to city games and never had trouble. Granted they never jumped out their seat and screamed like a looney at a goal but they'd still let out a loud 'yes' which anyone in the vicinity can hear. Makes for good banter in the area too, was particularly great when we done Leicester on nigels return, all 2nd half he was giving it the biggun that we couldn't even beat 10 men, then koren banged it in and that look on his face when the people all sat nearby shoved humble pie down his throat including me and everyone just having a laugh about it. That's what footballs all about.

I thought it was the just the son that had a Liverpool shirt on, and his dad was decked out in black and amber?

Edit, I have been in the home end for our away games in the past, and had some good banter. The only time there was a hint of trouble was away at Wigan at their old ground. I think we'd gone 2-0 at half time. The natives didn't take kindly to me being amongst them, so the stewards took me to the away end (after parading me in front of the home fans so I could get more abuse). There was also a riot after that match if I remember rightly.

I've also been to the Rugby League World Cup Final between Australia and NZ, where there was no segregation and you were allowed to drink in the stands.

It should be possible for rival football fans to watch football together without wanting to kick the **** out of each other. But, for some reason it isn't

The kid had a shirt and a flag with him. Can't remember what the dad had on. Kid next to me on the bus had a scarf but hid it under his jacket all the way there, but paraded it around after we got thrashed on the way back.

As i as said before, there;s a history of football violence in the UK unlike in other sports or in places like Australia.

I don't condone violence, but i don;t like these idiots taking the piss. If they just came to see the opposition and have a hatred of City (many of them do), they shouldn't be there & should fork out and go to the away end or to Anfield/ Old Trafford/ Emirates etc.

Pretty sure his dad had a black and amber scarf on. I thought it was a ridiculous overreaction by our fans and stewards to throw them out. He was a young lad watching the match with his dad. It just so happened that they didn't support the same team

In this case they took a 10 year old kid with them and sat in the middle of the Cardiff fans. I don't think you need to ask how daft they are. I've been in a few grounds in the home end, but I'd never take a kid with me, and I'd never do it somewhere like Cardiff or Millwall. I've had my younger cousins at home games before and they're not City fans, but there's a difference when you know the people around you are the same people every week.

In answer to the original question, I think the fact the ground is segregated in the first place makes things like this more of an issue. It makes it a territorial thing, they're not supposed to be there because it's our end and they're trespassing. If it were an unsegregated ground (I guess like Fulham's neutral section) people wouldn't think half as much about an opposing fan being sat with them.

But they know there's some pissed up idiots who will find a problem or make it their problem and try to get at you. Surely, the father will know beforehand, that violence has been associated with football for decades in this country. This sort of thing is like a red rag to a bull to them.

If you want to support the opposition in the wrong end you keep quiet throughout.

It's stupid they whinge about it when they've attracted it on themselves.

Exactly, that's why you don't need to ask how daft they are, it's obvious they're morons.

Fulham's neutral stand is next door to where the away fans sit and the idea is that anyone who's in London and fancies taking in a football match can go and sit in there without being affiliated with either club. In addition, fans of the two clubs playing each other can just sit in there if they fancy sitting with opposition fans(there's never been any trouble).

The issue with some of the 'prem' fans (they're not football fans) is that they've latched on to a team in the hope of vicarious glory to fill a void in their life. They try to lord it up because instead of following a team they've a connection to, or heaven forbid their home town team, they've chosen one that has a bit of success attached.

To have someone like that taking a seat that should be for home fans and to sneer when doing it, is for me out of order and I've precious little sympathy. Their children should be taken from them and put in care to save them from further abuse.

What sort of cretin takes his son in the Cardiff end anyway?

    Unless he supports Cardiff.

    Obviously.

Anyway, I'm not condoning thuggish behaviour but a tiny bit of common sense would have prevented this from happening in the first place.

Anyone who goes in the opposition stands can't complain if he gets a kicking.

    Man up, ladies.
