At last they have got something right.......! http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepag...s-aim-to-find-a-Lionel-Messi-for-England.html not sure if done already...now we're only 10 years behind the rest of europe...
gonna take a whole new breed of younger coahes and managers, but at least we are trying..... Still gonna have to make it competitive though. Need to teach kids about competition, and having a will to win. Cant all be fun and games...Q!
Can't we just kidnap the real Messi, brain-wash him and then pass him off as a 14 year old kid from Slough called George? Much easier.
It's the parents that need educating now. Used to coach kids soccer after getting an FA coaching qualification ( virtually nothing in it about coaching different age groups), and all the parents were interested in was winning games and the league position - even for 9 year olds. Boy spent a brief time in the academy of a championship club, which was so dire he asked to stop going. I was delighted when he took up rugby instead, which is very sad. There is no reason except for pig headedness and lack of patience that we can't produce players as good as anyone else. Not holding my breath though.
Couldn't agree more. Every dad and half the mums think they're world-class coaches that know best and know which position little Johnny should play in. If a pro club gives them a second glance the parents think the kid has made it and bask in the glory.
I'm actually involved in kids football and this is something that has been discussed for a while. Reason it has to be phased in is that now suddenly we need 5v5 pitches and 9v9 pitches , this is going to take a while to sort out on a large scale. I'm not overly impressed that they have decided to take the element of competition away for such a long time. In Holland and spain they are actually reverting back to competitive fooball at a young age ( so there is an arguement that this will keep us in the dark ages yet again ). Its good that we are changing what we do and the way we play , and i witness that from such a young age. The trouble is educating everyone about the result not being important but you still see parents screaming at 7 year olds to hoof it up the pitch and balling them out for loosing the football. I still see comments on here about route one being the most effective way to play and you hear it in the terraces week in week out. One day we will learn that if you have the football more than the other team you stand more chance of winning the football match. The spanish seem to have the right idea, its not rocket science.
Mate, not slough..no-where near Polish enough.......Try Uxbirdge area...Nice Hispanic contingent there. Could Call him George and get him a membership to Regals...!!
Spot on there mate. I must admit to being guilty of losing the rag with Tarbs too often and my old-school mindset must change.
Didn't do our football much good when they decided to abandon school leagues at primary and secondary levels - and sold off so many school playing fields. Can't remember the justification for that - was it because competition was regarded as non-PC or to reduce the education budget... ?! Now we've got unfit kids playing fingerball on computers!
Spot on and now the schools refuse to hire out their playing fields at weekend to local sides, they then moan about obese children and lack of funds , it aint rocket science people. Annoys the life out of me.
It is over here mate...you forget that we are just slowly getting into the 20th century up here mate !!
All having been in youth football a number of years now through coaching, and also adminstrating youth football.. There are a numbers of issues to address to the FA Youth proposals... More pitches now needed, for 5 v 5, and 9 v 9. Many clubs play on council, school pitches...this is going to create more problems in obtaining new pitches, etc... Many schools do hire out their pitches at the weekend for an absolute fortune, my club pays over £22,000 per season...? For training pitches, and playing pitches...Some schools are raking it in,. which is completly wrong. Over competeitive coaches and parents...Been there, done that, got the tee-shirt. Have seen Managers at u9's who get a major hard on because their team has won a trophy at the end of the season, and they believe they are a good coach/Manager because of it... Now read this, illigal tapping up of players by rival managers goes on all the time. Over competetive Managers will scout other teams best players even at u9 just to get a winning team... Sad, but all true... Stan
Swords Hoopster....Sorry mate, don't know the other Stan... Below is the absolute truth... I got informed a few weeks ago, that a U9's Manager went to watch two rival u9's teams play their FINAL league match of the season, both teams were in no way connected to his... After the game, the Manager in question followed one of the teams best player who was walking with his parents into the car park, and then tapped him up. "How would you like to play for my team next season...?" This goes on all the time unfortunatly, once the season is finished, all players are up for grabs, as they are signed up for only one season with any team. I have also heard that some teams will pay for star players travel expenses, new kit, training kit, boots, etc... Just to get the BEST players for their team...This is u9's football... It is over competetive coaches and parents that is ruining the game at grass roots level... Stan
