Re: above, there's a few "stories" I've picked up about the Templars and Solomons' mines [edit: oops temple]. One is that they found the holy grail, another, they found the arc of the covenant. Both bollox to me as they give credence to the omnipotent god that dulls our senses today.
There is one interesting story though. This one is that the Templars found a vast hoard of treasure. Not treasure as we know it but texts, written in multiple 'languages' containing philosophies, sciences, mathematics, languages, astronomy, music, art, religion from a time which pre-dates our history and supposedly spanning back to a time before the first human sapien stood upright, left Africa and marched into our civilization.
Could explain our obsessive with antiquities found through archeology. It is odd that in the time of the Crusades a new science called archeology was born and we've torn the world up since looking for clues to our past.
Not saying I believe any of this, theories of lost worlds and pre-history civilisations have always caught the imagination, Atlantis, Menoah, Kush, but this one is supposed to go way back to a time when we were just monkeys swinging in the trees. By the way, the people of that civilisation, if there was one, must have been another species entirely and not human sapien because humans hadn't evolved yet and some go further to say that they are the reason there is a missing link in our evolution as they tampered with our gene pool. There's one hell of a film in there don't you think dude.
