The latest name to be linked and a quite interesting one at that. This lad fits in perfectly with the current signings and the lads that it seems as though we have bid for and by that I mean he is a big lad at 6ft 1" and he is lighning quick.

Was injured for 6months of the season just gone and his side Palermo got relegated so who knows he might be available for a cut price. Only 22 as well I think.

Sirens English for Abel Hernandez. His agent Bentancur has recently arrived in Italy, will meet a number of companies these days, among them the Palermo. The Uruguayan striker like to Parma, but now there's another possibility: Sunderland. Bentancur will talk with President Zamparini and the Director Giorgio Perinetti, then the parts together make a decision. On the table of the hypotheses is also the possibility that Hernandez smear the contract and remains to Palermo, the picture will be clearer after the agent of Abel analyze the situation with the leadership of Palermo.

Now this is the kinda **** I'm talking about Poolie!

Skilful and quick as a flash, unpredictable, frustrating, but ultimately supremely talented and naturally gifted.

Won't get 20 a season, but he will make space for Fletch and oncoming midfielders with his control and pace, I ****ing hope there's some substance in this one.

I'll be honest - we are quickly running out of ways to write a headline linking Sunderland with a new player. Today sees yet another name enter the fray.

According to reports in Italy, Palermo striker Abel Hernandez is the latest name casting the seeming endlessly wide gaze of Sunderland's new Italian overlords.

Tuttomercatoweb.com claim that Sunderland will be among the clubs due to meet with the players agent over the next few days, with a transfer looking likely following the Sicilian club's relegation from Serie A last month.

Should the reports prove accurate, Parma would appear to be the chief competition for the 21-year-old Uruguayan.

Again, it really is difficult to know how much to read into the plethora of reports linking Sunderland with players right now. It seems that every day a new name is linked with a move to Wearside.

The source on this one seems a little tabloidy, but we are once again talking about a player who satisfies a lot of the criteria laid out by Roberto De Fanti and Paolo Di Canio this summer considering his pace, youth, and affordability. It is a link worth acknowledging at least.

Whether or not anything somes of it, we are as much in the dark over as anyone else. We will do our best to follow it, though.

He looks like the player we need. Pace, plays in the pocket between the centre backs and right on the shoulder of the last man. Oh and can score....

THIS IS THE KIND OF STRIKER WE NEED!

only playing 39 games in 4 seasons, isn't good. It looks like from his stats that he out from October/November too February/March every season.... Very strage!

He is 22…therefore in 4 seasons starting from when he was 18…Not many players of that age get games

My housemate is a Palermo fan, from Sicily. He is gutted they went down, but rates Hernandez. If you google most erratic chairman in world football, Maritzio Zamparini will be at the top of the list. And the skunks think they have it bad with Fat Mike... The reason they went down is that they sacked a manager (Scannino) 3 games into the season after 3 losses (he was only appointed during the summer), brought in Gasparini, sacked him after the christmas break in March, and brought in a coach who relegated Genoa. He was sacked a few games into March, Gasparini was brought back in and then ultimately sacked again a couple of weeks later, and the original coach Scannino was brought back with a couple of months remaining. He couldn't keep them up, although they played much better with him, beating the likes of Inter and Roma. Scannino has ultimately left the position and Gattuso (yep, the same one from Rangers) has now been appointed Manager.

The first choice striker was always Miccoli as he is more experienced and the captain, and he had an in form Illicic sitting behind him helping with the goals. Due to all the chopping and changing of manager over maaaaany seasons (last season was on par with previous ones), most players don't get regularly played as managers don't have time to find a settled team before they are sacked. Palermo have a pretty good network for scouting south american players, they discovered Pastore and brought him in for peanuts and sold him for mega bucks to PSG.

He isn't the finished article, but by all accounts he has the potential to be a very good striker.

Ive had to hear him moaning about it all year, so most of the info rubbed off on me! Palermo are really bad for their goalkeepers aswell, they've had a new no.1 every season for the last few years. Tzorvas, Ukjani, and the current Sorrentino. They sold a good left back in Balzaretti to Roma last summer, and never really replaced him. Morganella is a liability, and has some really weird ****in hairstyles. They had a striker playing up front called Fabrini on loan from Udinese, who would ALWAYS go over looking for the free kick (not to mention he looked like he would blow over in a strong gust), and Garcia likes to score own goals.

They have basically sold or loaned their best players out over the years (Pastore, Cavani played for them aswell), and the current crop of good ones have had **** management. Dybala is another that looks really good aswell, but never had proper service or a good run in the team. Always a final 10mins here and there.
