http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/9259572.Magpies_debutant_s_international_dilemma/? looks like abeid is in a similar situation to ferguson two countries want him and it also looks like he will play tonight going by the article.
Why do they keep saying Ameobi will play. Surely Ba needs the games? Not to mention Ameobi should be bottom choice at present due to his woeful form and lack of ability. Also no mention of Tiote who also looks still in pre season (understandably) and also needs the games. I'm glad the likes of Abeid will get a go and understand Gosling/Guthrie needs games, but getting Tiote right is crucial to our league form. Can't believe we're gonna play Perch! Personally I think we should put out a reasonably strong side with the first choice pairing at the back still in tact. You can understand what he's thinking though as one of them picks up a knock and we're screwed. I'd quite like to have a go at this competition but it appears fro the probable sides being bandied about we are luke warm about it.
Natural game is supposed to be an attacking central midfielder. Haven't seen enough to know but he commented he can play deeper too, and some have suggested he could even cover wide.
This is sad, but I dreamt last night Abeid played against Forest and got MOTM. He had a weird 'tall' Afro, fresh prince of bell air style.
When I saw him in a friendly in, the Orlando game I think. He played out wide/AM and looked pretty good. Hopefully he starts tonight and impresses!
Abeids a defensive midfielder. Therefore his best position is in the centre. He's just capable of picking a pass and playing anywhere across the middle because of it. From all the pre season games I went to he was easily amongst the top few on the pitch. Especially against Orlando.
Yes defo an offensive midfielder by trade but I think he said in an interview that he believes he is equally as good at the defensive side. Certainly everything you read on his time in France seems to suggest an attacking midfielder a la Taarabt etc. He seemed to think the ability to do both attacking and defensive work suited us and English football. Maybe similar to Cabaye if that is the case though he has been used in a more attacking wide role by us as well. I suppose when players are young they can adapt to a number of positions easier because of athleticism. Sounds like he'll be good cover for a few roles and it will certainly be interesting to see.
yeah i know, just never realised he was, most of those north african countries speak french dont they, senagal as well.
Has he now made the decision? I hadn't seen anything. I was told he'd been called up by their U21's but obviously that doesn't change anything. I think he should stay with NI to be honest although it would clearly be better football wise with the Republic. Doesn't seem right having the option to choose when they still wish to be considered as seperate countries.
in the 2002 world cup game between senegal and france, the whole of the senegal starting 11 played their club football in france whereas none of the french starting 11 did.
