There are reports that we offered him £6k a week over 6 years.
If true that is a piss take.
I'd offer the lad a basic of £30k with some heavy add ons for appearances, goals, call ups etc... with a clause to trigger an automatic review of the structure in year 3.

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew admits that talks with Rolando Aarons are ongoing after reports of breakdown

Newcastle United remain in talks to agree a new deal with Rolando Aarons.

It is understood that Aarons’ current deal expires at the end of the season and he could leave the club if a new contract isn’t arranged.

Alan Pardew said today: “He’s a young player who has a contract here, and we’re trying to negotiate with his team.

“Somewhere along the line, I think some sense will come into those negotiations.”

Aarons has been a revelation this season when he has played but has been out injured with hamstring problems.

To be fair though that is all he is worth at the moment! An incremental deal though based on appearances would/may suit all parties!

Lets not forget Ranger and Vuckic. Both potential stars; both given long contracts at a very good salary and where are they now?

It's a very difficult balance to make sure you keep your up and coming "stars" but don't take away the "stars" hunger to succeed.

I agree , we need to see just how problematic these injuries could be and he's still obviously young and largely unproven (though seemingly an obviously huge talent who can perform at the top level with ease)

Some sort of decent salary with an option for a review after a full prem season or two would seem the best bet.

He does look absolute quality. But I can imagine that his 'team' are seeing the $$$ and acting in their own interests as much as his. Giving these young players rediculous contracts often does not have the right effect.

Still reckon he is a bit special, just need to get it sorted. Worth more than 6k though.

It's difficult to have complete faith in these leaked stories.

We don't know what figures are being haggled over, it may even be clauses rather than wage issue.

I would be more annoyed losing Aarons on a free rather than losing Moussa for 15m! especially to the Mackems, could you imagine! They would probably do everything they could to sign him just to get us back for Colback. (I've read stuff on twitter about it)

I would offer somthing in the region of 15k-20k + 2.5k apperances and 2.5k goal bonuses. If I was in his position, I would turn the 6k offer down, I think he has a young daughter too with a Mrs, so she's probably in his ear!

Somehow I don't think Aarons will be leaving for the Mackems <laugh>

He is being courted by Schalke, Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool. My understanding is his contract runs out in summer 2016. We are simply trying to tie him down to a longer one. Plenty time between now and then. Hopefully we can retain him for as long as possible but realistically we all know he is set for bigger things

If it actually happened, that being Aarons left us for Sunderland I would section myself under the mental health act. It would never, ever, happen.

    Karma doesn't exist anyway.

Your presence on this thread, user name and the general repute in which you are held all would seem to suggest the contrary
