Man city want Arron Lennon in a swap deal for adebayor, according to the bbc sport site today.i can't see it happening because Adebayor wants to join real madrid, and also we could'nt afford his wages,so how would that work?
I'm not so sure it's totally made up. We know Harry is interested in Adebayor - Real don't seem to want him back, and Mankini is very keen to see the back of him. We know Harry and Lennon don't appear to have been getting on too well. So, IMO, there could be some truth in it. As has just been said, whether they can make the numbers work, is another matter.
Its not on the BBC Sport site as a news report. Its in the gossip column, with a link to the Mirror's website. So I'm not too convinced this holds much water.
NSS...... What is there to suggest 'Arry and Lennon are not getting on? I am starting to get a little concerned with our lack of movement in the transfer market. We all know what we need, it seems that all our targets are disappearing. We are now looking at bringing in Joey Barton. I mean for **** sake. We do not need anymore midfielders. Especially one that is a total liability and would probably prevent us from getting close to the top 4 spot by beating someone up and making us play our games with only 10 men. One little comment from another player and he would fly off the handle and get into trouble. They say he has cleaned up his act, but the fact remains that when it comes down to it he will lose it at some point. We saw this with ZIZU at the world cup. Probably the most calm player I saw and he lost it on the most important stage. Tottenham have stolen a march on their main rivals, rumoured to include Arsenal and Manchester United, in the race to sign Joey Barton on a free transfer by instigating the first talks with the Newcastle United midfielder. BBC gossip column (metro) Please, Please 'Arry......just get us a decent striker.
There were reports last season - true, or false, I don't know, that they had had a couple of disagreements over Lennon's "attitude"
I think from time to time players will have a bit of strop with the boss- it is borne of pressure. But this case I think is some creative journalism hoping to join two different situations together. City want to ship out Adebyor and Aaron Lennon had a problem near the end of the season that to me doesn't add up to a proper story.
Didn't Lennon get annoyed by comments that he pulled out last minute before our thrashing by Real? He said he was unhappy about being the scapegoat.
I always thought that blaming him wasn't a very good excuse. He managed to play against Inter (the title holders at the time) and AC Milan without a problem, and he's played for England in a fair few big games. I think he genuinely was ill.
Have to agree with you on that.they wanted to lay the blame somewhere, and he was an easy target, when it was crouches sending off in the first leg,and a gomes blunder that done for us
I wouldn't mind Johnson and Adebayor on loan. I doubt Lennon really wants to be sat on the bench twittering with Milner and Balotelli, though.
Redknapp specifically stated that Lennon wasn't to blame and that he was ill, so I don't get where that stupid story got legs from. The Lennon/Adebayor swap doesn't make much sense either, as the whole problem with signing the Togolese striker is that we can't afford his wages. How would that change if we included Lennon in the deal? If it were to happen, then I'd expect some money to be coming our way too and/or Shaun Wright-Phillips, who only has a year left on his contract.
Ade will have a choice to make soon when the window comes to an end, as I don't see a queue for his signature. Sit in the stands with no football on great wages, or play football on less wages...interesting!
Still wouldn't solve the wages problem, CS. I'd expect Redknapp would probably be delighted with about half of Citeh's cast-offs, but they can't get rid of unwanted players because of the silly wages that they're on. I hope Levy doesn't put too much thought into it, because he could probably fund a new stadium just by taking deals for our best players that included players coming the other way. Bellamy's another one that our manager's looked at in the past. Real Madrid are still showing an interest in Adebayor, Notso. I think they're hoping to wait out City and nick him on another loan, which may suit us. We pull out of the running if they agree to sell us the two players we're supposedly after...
Mancini doesn't seem to have a lot of faith in either of the players that you've named, Lidls. Not that I think they're interested in Lennon, as I don't, but signing a right-winger wouldn't be out of the question for them.
