Had nothing to do with Chelsea pulling out - let’s not make it seem they’re the saviour of football. It fell apart because 99% of fans across the globe protested strongly and condemned their club for signing up. The fans are the reason it fell apart.

I reckon given the way the Saudi's are going, someone will argue FFP is a restriction of trade since it only impacts UEFA clubs and the whole thing will disappear

The new CL format is essentially a small step to a super league anyway. Uefa we’re just pissed cos they weren’t involved in the other super league idea. They’ve already increased CL number of clubs and made it one giant table (which is ****). They’ve already given out extra places to best performing countries to help more big clubs get in (which is ****). The new format allows all the big clubs who may have a bad few games a second chance via a play off (which is ****). Uefa need clubs like Manchester, Liverpool, chelsea, Milan’s Juve Barca in the CL and in the later stages to help them sell tv rights so will always do all they can to make sure as many as in the CL and get through to the knockouts. Thats before we even start talking about the new club World Cup format
