Newcastle close in on Tranquillo Barnetta with Alan Pardew set to pip Sunderland to Craig Gardner

Barnetta would be a great signing, looks impressive for Leverkusen and he's shown for Switzerland he can deliver the goods. Good tricky winger is what we need, hopefully this is true. Gardner would also be a decent signing but I would only want him if Barton leaves. I personally believe he is on par with what we have at the moment and would only contribute to be a squad player. With Cabaye amongst the ranks and the potential signings of Ba, Erdinc and Barnetta, I cannot wait for pre-season.

If we sign him, I hope we get free kicks against Man City.

    I would love Barnetta here!

He would fit in perfectly and can play on either wing or in the centre of midfield.

All good on the midfield and winger front. I just want more optimism about our striker targets.

I'd be very happy with Barnetta. Dont feel the need for Gardner though.

Yes to barnetta but no to Gardner as hr has got 3 red card this season- the most for one player and Barton and Nolan are better

Would be very happy with Barnetta. Would cost about half of what N'Zogbia would cost aswell. Not sure who I would prefer though, probably Barnetta as he doesn't have the history N'Zogbia has, plus it gives us an extra bit of cash to focus on a striker.

Sorry to be pessimistic but we seem to be aiming for the stars and getting no where. If we keep chasing players who want to play in Europe and keep losing out we are gonna lose out on players like Gardner aswell and end up with no one.

I know theres a long way to go until the window closes but we may need to start setting our targets a tad lower...don't you think?

As a wise man once said:

Aim for the stars and you might just get to the moon.
Aim for the moon and you might just shoot your foot.
Aim at the intern and you are Ashley Cole.

Eyebrow maybe? cutting penis's off seems to lead to us not getting the player

But if we get Cabaye, Naylor, The Zog, Ba, Erding and Barnetta this summer, I will be veryy happy.

Gardner is a sideways move he wont give us anything we dont already have. As for barnetta hes decent but a bit clueless in possesion, maybe not cut out for the prem or for nufc, our game is based on possesion and i think he would ruin that id prefer nzog because we know we will get decent crosses and passes, goals and running and taking on players. Nzog has the quality to take us towards europe and the top ten aswell, hes proven at this level.
