I am not sure if it is me, but we seem to have been light on Red Bull comments since the Hungry GP. I noted that they were nowhere to be seen on the post race forum and Ted Kravitz wasn't able to get a post race interview! I didn't think much of it, but having seen the F1 various website updates and certain pundits views, it would appear that they are worried! Does anyone have knowledge of a post race interview with Mr. Horner?
vettel just extended his championship lead to the biggest it has been this season, i dont think they are worried really, especailly when noone is actually taking the fight to them. they are all busy taking points off each other. 8 races to go so 200 max points left. even if vettel doesnt win another race and the other 3 share them 2-3 wins each vettel doesnt even need top 3's every race to clinch title. worst case scenario and someone actually does dominate and wins all 8 then vettel only needs 113 points from those 8 races to win anyway (3rd's and 4th's)
A couple of DNFs might make it a bit more interesting. The pot needs to be kept boiling, or who will decide to pay through the nose to watch F1 on Sky?
Might have to do that the last 3 grand prixs will decide the last 5 towards the end, this is the real fight to end the season. If Vettel gets on the podium at Spa,Monza and Singapore, they would have shut out anything the rest of the teams could do. After that Seb can finish in the top 5-6 and still be 40+ points ahead of 2nd place come Abu Dhabi-Brazil.
Its basically a fight for the WCC now isn't it. I can forgive Vettel (though he doesn't really need forgiving) for once year of utter domination
I dont think they are worried at losing either championship to be honest, I just felt it very strange that there were no comments from any of the Red Bull managemnet - they are normally happy to chat and discuss! I just felt it was a little out of charachter for them!
Basil, it's a very interesting point you make about "the pot needs to be kept boiling", especially with regard to future championships and the trend towards pay-TV F1. Can we expect Murdoch-fuelled fires to be lit under the championship in future to boil every last drop out of the racing season?
After six races of this season most people would have said that it would have been all over with six races to go. Even now that it appears that there are three teams that are performing about equal Vettel should have the championship put to bed in a few races time. If my suspicions are correct then Vettel will have a at least a couple of DNFs in the next few races. Cue news stories about whether Vettel can handle the pressure. You know the sort of thing. I have no doubt that Vettel will win the title, but it might not be such a stroll for him. Also it may be a little different now that individual GPs are actually pretty damn exciting now. People will still watch now that they know they might get a Canada or a Germany, no matter who wins the title. I will admit I am suspicious, and I wouldn't put it past some people (you know who) to meddle with things to keep the interest going right to the end.
