I always expected Iwelumo to have a poor 1st game, you cant expect a player to have his 1st ganme against his old club and play well, however you have to say that our other sighnings did look very promising, going to the match yesterday I thought that Forsyth looked like he had some serious quality and is going to be a key player this coming season, also bagging himself a goal was very impressive (although even I could have taken it) and Yeates also a debutant got himself on the score sheet with a finish that any striker would have been proud with, I think that yesterday was a very positive start of the season to come and am chuffed if watford can somehow stop so many goals going in then I think we are in for a top half finish and by january will have forgotten Malkys name. Hope to asee lots of you at Bristol.
MM couldnt fix that prob , but I reckon SD might , I like his focus on the mental aspect of the game !
I hope you're right Norway. All we need is Scott Loach to have the confidence he had in 2009, and all of the back four to on one hand know that the occasional mistake is part of football, but on the other that a string of dodgy performances will see them dropped. If he can make Jenkins and Eustace work, the wingers keep on doing the business, and Sordell steps up as he sounded like he did yesterday, then we could have one hell of a team.
Well the defence is going to take a while to fix because of new faces and need time to gell but it will happen am chuffed to bits with this transfer window
I've mentioned this elsewhere but seeing Sordell help create both goals was a huge plus. We will need his goals this season for sure but if he can match Graham's ability to create opportunities for others he will be in for a great season and we should get a decent wedge when the inevitable happens next summer and a Prem team comes in for him.
i have a feeling our defence will be a lot tighter now, but it's going to take time...let's hope we have a bit of time to play with!
Lets Hope so H , at least they have had a few more days in the training ground and the players with niggles are now ok!
mmm not sure what to say about Iwelumo after that "ineffectual" display. I remember Trevor Senior in August 1987. My daughter was happy to win the sweepstake for "how long will Iwelumo last", I now have 70 mins for Tuesday ...... and that was that really, if only we'd scored in our purple patches in the 1st half the game would have been so different, and Chris would have been excused. Goals change games, and that goal killed us.
Agreed with that. I also agree with E69's point that once Derby scored we lacked ideas or confidence fell away until Massey came on which is a worry.
