For any poster onto this forum and especially those who are on the warpath with each for nowt on the "lucky forum". Have a go at this in the hope it keeps you off the other thread: An occurrence took place at St James' Park around about 1970 that incensed both teams so much that they surrounded the referee for minutes arguing about it. The incident was reported around a shocked football world. It was eventually smoothed over at the highest level. What was it? No prizes once the winner explains where he got the answer.:
Don,t give a **** about Newcastle but no doubt a scum player dived trying to get a opposition player sent off
The infamous pitch invasion cos they were losing? Couldn't have been the petrol bombing of west ham fans as that was the 80's? Super fans you know?
Was it the year that they found a mag with some humility and a lack of a delusional gene but then strung him up for being a heretic?
I've no idea with this one, but I know fine well that there will have been a full house with 50,000 people locked out..
Did both sets of supporters shake hands!. And have you heard the story about before the 1978 world cup final (which i watched, and was the best atmosphere ever other than SAFC vs Newcastle!) Neeskins i cannot spell his name, had a chalk on his wrist and as soon as Argentina came out a player went over to him and told him not to play with the cast on, so after a long debate with the ref (he was cleared to play anyhow) the ref told him to go off, so the Dutch team walked off with him and refused to play!, anyway something must have been sorted because they played the final which of course Argentina won.
Where are NUFC posters when you need them? It was not a trick question but for your edification it was the one and only time Bobby Charlton was booked in his career (No daft cards in those days, in the book was a warning). It was either for dissent or the all inclusive "ungentlemany conduct". If I recall correctly Denis Law and Bobby Moncur who were close by at the time claimed they were responsible. The FA rescinded the booking at a specially convened meeting. Probably seems nowt to you lads now, but it was big news then.
