No, not Alain Prost, but Prof Sid Watkins who is standing down from his involvement in motorsport. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula_one/16094508.stm Many drivers owe him a huge debt of gratitude for what he has done in F1 both in terms of safery in general, and the immediate treatment he gave to save many lives. Happy Retirement Sid!
Yep, a true hero of the sport who mostly goes unrecognised. I was going to write an article about him on here a while ago, but never really had the time unfortunately. Without him we'd certainly be missing a good number more drivers, Mika Hakkinen for one!
A real loss to the sport, but it's about time he called it quits. I hope I'm retired by the time I hit 83. Time for some serious fishing!
It's good to see this thread here already. Best wishes to Sid for a long and happy retirement. What he has achieved is truly amazing. Equally amazing is just how long he has managed to keep going! A wonderful man to whom every F1 fan is indebted. Good luck Sid Watkins…
Well done Steve http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/9409364._The_Professor__rejoins_Watford/ ...And a happy retirement to Sid Watkins too
