That team, out there tonight, in Blue, white and yellow. . . they deserved that standing ovation. I think I can speak on behalf of a lot fans when I say I'd rather watch this team of grafters (do the yever stop running?) than last years vintage. My only qualification being is that we should have brought someone like Malky in last January (edited). With respect to Dave JOnes, I hope he gets to watch some highlights. . . and learns something.

The irony is, we may not do as well as last season but have happier supporters due to the teams endeavour. If the squad of last season had the work rate of this, we'd have walked the league.

I think over the last two games the 2011-12 vintage has shown its mettle. A little more understanding, the development of a few youngsters and a loanee or two and top 6 will be there for the taking. Lets not get ahead of ourselves though.

Great performances over the last 4 days. Let's go into the international break on a high. Anything bar a loss on Saturday will see us sitting pretty with a week or two to patch up the walking wounded and for MM to find a loan signing or two.

    Happy days.

Great effort all round. I don't think Mason and Cowie stopped running all night and what will MM do with Darcy when everyone is fit again? He has been awesome the last 2 games.

I hope McNuggs and Kiss just have slight knocks as they will be much needed again on Saturday. Not sure if Kiss was injured or just totally knackered.

The Gunnar had his best game yet.

Good to see Kenny score again though. He looked a different class once the first one went in.

    GLAM..................You stole my thread there M8, I couldn't agree more, <ok>

We have had "better" players in the past, we have had good players with a "Prima Donna" attitude. (I have to leave Bellamy out of this criticism <ok>) and we all have our own opinions on who they were, players who didn't seem to care enough, the other side of the coin.....we have had players who would have run through a wall for Cardiff City again we all have our own opinions on who these guys were. Tonight we were, let's face it second best in a lot of areas (I know a bit of a "scratch" side), what the team did was outworked and outfought Southampton,,,,,,,,,,we wanted it more, for the first time in a long time I felt that EVERYONE of the Cardiff players on that pitch was as proud to wear the Cardiff shirt as the supporters that turn up and spend their hard earned week in week out. I've been a Cardiff fan for a long time, and always been proud of my team. although sometimes I've wondered why <ok>..............tonight I knew why................will we get promoted? I don't know, but as long as the team put in performances like they did tonight, well we can't grumble. Proud tonight too right <ok>

Well, I stayed up last night and listened to the radio...just woke up :)

Not much I can say that has not been said.

I was just so proud of the performance. A big hats off to Kenny as well. I think it shows that you would rather a striker that continues to work hard every minute of every game than one who sulks and falls over at any given chance. Kenny may not score 20 this season, but he seems destined to score some very important goals for us.

The effort is extraordinary at the moment. I wonder if there is a club out there that works as hard as us. Without throwing back to the past or meaning to criticise DJ, the appointmnet of MM has been 100% correct and just what the club needed.

I hate to sound too positive but a couple of games ago, I felt without flair, hard work was only going to get us 6th, 7th, or 8th, now, I am starting to believe that hardwork can get us the whole way alone!!

Maybe I am over the top this morning, but right now I want to yell Bluebirds, Bluebirds, Bluebirds.....at everyone I see :) :smiley-finger007:

I think that the first 25 mins in the second half was the best I've seen for a long time. We Closed down, we hassled and attacked in the end it made them make mistakes.

Thought Mason run his socks off and hope that the 2 goals last night will be the start for Miller.

I'm far more excited about this team than last year but then I've always liked players who will scrap for every ball and who never give up.

probably the best performance of the season so far, we were impressive and the defence awesome, sorry but i am no Darcy fan due to his distribution, however they all gave 110% and Miller took his goals really well, i am not going to look through rose tinted glasses as Southampton in all honesty missed quite a few clear cut chances and Marshall was outstanding in goals, a great atmosphere at the stadium last night and hats off to the Southampton fans as it was good to see that the away allocation was almost sold out. I think the likes of Southampton and Brighton are coming to the end of their honeymoon period and i see the championship going right down to the wire again, only this year i do not think we will have a runaway champion. Erikson summed the league up pretty well last night, where unsuprisingly he announced that the championship is the best second tier and supported league in the world and that every game is a battle, we have a team of battlers but with a little more flair in the side i think we will be competing up there with the best of them.

The difference to last season performances is just staggering. Hats off to Malky and his staff.

Thought Gunnar was excellent, imo he's the best signing we made this Summer.
Thought Miller's whole contribution was excellent, him and Joe chased the Saints defenders and didn't give them a moment. The work Miller did down the left first half would have been interesting if he'd had Rudy in the middle. I really believe they could work as a partnership.

he doesnt have the ability of bothroyd, but he doesnt spend half the game sat on his arse or getting yellows every other game so i'm delighted for miller. disappointed he didnt get the hattrick with the late chance too, yes the first goal was poor defending but the second was just a good poachers finish. there were next to no options to change the game from the bench so it was clear that the team starting would have to start and finish well. i thought we controlled much of the game and deserved the 3 points, though it must be said southampton did miss some easy chances which they would have scored on another day.

have to agree i thought gunnarsson was excellent again, whittingham showed his usual composure especially towards the end to wind the clock down so overall a great day at the office from the team and MM, outstanding in fact <ok>

100% commitment last night. Finally after the past few seasons we seem to have sorted out the midfield dilemna.

    Well done Malky,not just a plan B but a plan C.

All credit to the travelling Saints 1600+. <ok>

Agreed it was a great time effort and they closed down and ran thier socks off but i still wont be convinced of use being serious play off contenders until we sign that little bit of class, a strong attacking big striker that can hold the ball up and creatate havoc in the air , another winger maybe in the Burke mould and another experienced midfielder who can break up play and a decent distributer of the ball.

Isn't it a nice change to see us battling, tackling and competing in midfield it makes the back four's job a lot easier. Great commitment from all last night brilliant result.

We needed three points and for the first time I did not think we could expect that. Not sure how this team is stringing results together but it was beyond me that the owners would not want the same auto this season as always and based on that I am going for auto.

A simple point but it sums up the spirit in the whole club from us to the players at the moment. Malky for me in one moment alone sums up the passion desire and commitment that was all we have wanted to see from our club players and its team over the last few years. That moment is just like a general leaving the battle field he makes sure he is the last one off the battle field with the job done. (P.S and he acknowledges the fans on his way :)).

Can’t remember the film but I am sure Mel Gibson was in it when he boarded the chopper when he knew all his troops were off.

Delighted so far!! Oh and a round of applause for miller not been my cup of tea so far and even in the first half I still wasn’t convinced but what a second half he looked like a completely different player and if he can keep that up I wont take to long to change my mind. Miller I kneel before you sir!!
