Good afternoon all. I've been a visitor to this site (and the old 606) a number of times and have finally decided to sign up and jump into the debate. One thing i've noticed this season is after a player miscues a pass (Fox springs to mind) or puts a shot wide, the positive reaction from other players - usually a raised thumb acknowledging the intended pass, or some claps of encouragement. Many teams i've seen us play this season appear to have nowhere near the levels of camaraderie that we have - Doncaster in particular spring to mind, although with Diouf as captain I don't blame them. Gillett looked like he was going to tear out his remaining hair. Seems Adkins has put together some good eggs who get on off the pitch too.
Welcome Left Shin. I've noticed this as well - seemingly they all go out for a meal together after each game as well, and seem to hang out with each other outside of training. Just hope we don't make any signings this summer and beyond who will 'upset the apple cart'. Good team spirit and togetherness are priceless
They seem a top bunch. De Ridder, Chaplow, Lala, Jos and Sharp were all in Costa West Quay the other day. Seems like there's a great togetherness going on
Welcome! Your first thread is a very good one. And I agree, watching warm-ups before games everyone seems to be smiling and laughing with each other. A team like Manchester City will never win anything with the togetherness they have, whereas us, we have a very good, well built, happy squad. And every single player has played a part is our rise. Welcome again! Chapel.
Yeah I think the professionalism of the team has been one of the most important contributing factors to our success. Therefore, I would support any decision to offload anyone who doesn't fit the description of "good egg". This is why I don't particularly like Puncheon, and I'm having doubts over Fox.
Nothing substantial, I just don't like the look of him . Nah, he's done nothing majorly wrong so far other than attempt stupid cross-field balls that never reach their target, and get some rather awful tattoos.
I think that when we look to sign a player Nicola and Nigel are as concerned about attitude as they are skill and I think this could be why some of the players linked with us weren't signed. In the bad old days when I used to have to work for a living I was often inviolved in interviewing and always took the view that if an applicant didn't have all the skills but had the right attitude we could train him or her but if it is the other way around and they had all the skills but the attitude was wrong then believe me it is very hard to change attitudes and therefore we never offered a job to such applicants.
Thanks for the warm welcome. On Fox, I think he is a good addition. I like the fact he applauds the fans when he takes corners - which we've scored several important goals from. The only thing that baffles me is when he switches the play with his diagonal balls that have a success rate of about 3%. Much better was against Pompey when he played several good balls down the line for Sharp to run on to.
Hi, it is great when we have a good team spirit, although when you are performing well things can be more amicable !
