Now like the title suggests, it really is a SUGGESTION so if the Mods and other posters disagree it really won't affect or bother me or hopefully anyone else for that matter.

Now recently there's been a few bans and arguments in relation to people so called "wumming" on threads and that wum's should be banned from these forums full stop. Now in my opinion, banter in football is part and parcel of being a supporter, and although personally I don't really bother with trying to wind up opposition fans on these forums, some do and they enjoy and fair play to them, in all honesty a bit of banter never (or shouldn't anyway!) hurt anyone. Now my suggestion to the mods is perhaps making a thread in which it is purely for banter/ winding up/ mugging off the opposition after losing etc (with the exceptions of racism, discrimination etc which should be reported to a mod immediately). That way, anyone who disagrees with any form of p*ss taking/ wumming or however you want to call it can quite clearly stay away from the thread. Anyone who's up for it.. Can feel free to comment without the worry of being banned though should be prepared that by commenting on the specific thread will put themselves in the firing line of other posters.

Benefits I see of this is the wum's can do what they do best and in a way, it'll allow the mod's of the forum to focus on other subjects of trying to find ways to improve the forum and carry out their everyday mod duties as they see fit. Also, HOPEFULLY it'd stop wum's from posting on "non-wum" threads starting abuse, though that can not be guaranteed obviously, but then perhaps the mods could lay down a law in which any wumming of any sort that is not on my proposed "wumming" thread will receive immediate bans from the FORUM, not just the the teams board.

Like I said it's just a suggestion and I'm sure some people may see some implications which I can completely understand, me personally, I don't get affected by the wums, they're not harming me or annoying me in anyway and therefore have never really had a problem with them. Though I can appreciate most people do like to have a general football debate and discussion without people ruining it which I can fully understand.

So like I said, I've offered a suggestion, whether the mods think it's a decent idea or not I'll leave it down to them. <ok>

Do you know if it's worked in terms of wums staying clear of other threads mate?

It would be an ok idea.

How I see it, loads of wums like to wind up opposing fans, but certain fans don't react well to wums. This leads to the wums being banned on other teams' boards.
If we can do a multi-board "banter thread" they'd still be able to wum to their hearts content on it as it would be on their own teams' board, but can't hijack any other thread on the other board due to the banning.

Wums aside, an Arsenal & Tottenham Banter Thread would be quite entertaining anyway.

Cool, cheers totsfan.

Perhaps we could do a two week trial run of one and then see how that works out?

Cheers for the feedback guys <ok>

i like the idea in principle but i see the following happening:

1 - WUM posts correctly to designate WUM thread
2 - No decent posters are reading the WUM thread due to it, well, being a WUM thread
3 - WUM gets no responses
4 - WUM starts another thread anyway.

Very true mate, as I said there would be some implications to it, though then if a wum does decide to stray from the wum thread, an immediate ban or suspension should be issued in my opinion.

"Perhaps we could do a two week trial run of one and then see how that works out?"

Or how about 2 minutes! <laugh>

Seriously I see where you are coming from Spurs or Sex? but my feeling is this would just encourage Wumming. WUMS by their nature will not conform to a single thread and doing this is a licence to WUM. I think it is less of a problem on here than it was on the old 606, the major reason being that threads are pushed up the list by the interest shown rather than the time posted. I also think that not606 is attracting the kind of poster who enjoys a sensible debate this forum is not wum friendly. There are other places where they can fuel their desire for notoriety.

I still hate the word "wum". It's good old fashioned trolling (get off my lawn), and as long as people don't bite, it's fine.

There's an art and a skill to it that a lot of people don't get. And some of your typical pub banter doesn't transfer into forum text very well either; it’s all too faceless.

A compliment with an underlying tone of contempt is extremely funny if done correctly. e.g. "That Scotty Parker is a class player, why did you feel the need to sell him to us so cheap?". That should be met with a "you ****er :)" reply

"Hahahahaha we bought Parker from you losers on the cheap!!! LOL" is clearly not funny and the natural reaction is to ridicule the poster. This is where the nastiness starts.

I'm sorry but I don't think a "Wum thread" will solve anything. A master-class in comedy would be more productive.

I think that's because they've had the freedom (if that's the best way to put it) to post wherever they wanted to Spurf, by allowing them to post what they want (within reason) on a single multi board thread specifically for wums, it should in theory limit them to posting on other threads as (hopefully) they'd be too busy responding to other posters try to wind them up in return.

Though to be honest with you mate I agree at the fact that wumming isn't of a high percentage on not606 and since I've joined I've really enjoyed mixing in with the other fans and credit to the creator, yourself and the rest of the mods of this forum must be given. I haven't really come across many wums anyway (not that they bother me personally), it's just over the past few days I've seen more and more threads and posts relating to bans of posters and moan ups etc that I felt maybe something could be done to allow others to focus on our clubs and other topics we want to discuss.

Unfortunately mate I doubt some have the intellect to make their posts of a comic nature, otherwise that'd be great! It'd help other fans mix in with each other in good spirited banter. Cheers for the feedback Inda <ok>

We're all more than capable of having banter in threads without stepping over the line, I reckon. Anyone that steps over the line into wumming or abuse is going to do so regardless of whether there's a designated thread for it, luckily they usually create their own.

i personally love the WUM's. I think a thread would be brilliant. I would take personal pleasure in going through the thread finding quotes that bite the wum's in the arse.

sad, but satisfying. :)

I'd support it <ok>
I think the Utd v Liverpool one works quite well.
Someone pointed out that good wumming is actually really funny - if it's done well and I agree with that.
I think we all want some banter and good natured humour - it was the thing that BBC 606 never let us do.

The trouble is, that most wums think they are funny, when in fact they aren't - and they persist in leaving their odious trail in every thread.
Even when asked politely to respect the threads that fans want to talk about their own teams in, some wums just can't leave it alone.
That's why they are a problem.

If there was a thread where we all knew the score and people could let off a bit of steam, do their wumming, post their silly pictures etc, without anyone getting too upset and treating it in the spirit in which it was meant, then I think it could work.

<laugh> Brilliant mate.

Very true PISKIE, some wums are just giving wums a bad name! Oh wait... Lol, I actually pity the ones who are that bad, they end up actually getting abused to the point of where they probably wish they never wummed in the first place. Thanks for the support mate, appreciate it. <ok>
