Hi Tractor Boys, Sunderland fan here. Our two clubs seem to have a very good relationship, what with you having a couple of our lads signing for you (Grant and Carlos) as well as doing a good job with Jack (Colback) when he was on loan with you last season. I'm not so sure what you feel about Roy Keane. Up at Sunderland we're still divided about him. Anyway, the reason for this post is this: You done a good job with young Jack and now that you've lost Connor (sorry) you may be looking for a striker. We've got a lad in our reserves who scores for fun. He can't get much of a run in our first team, even with Bent gone we still had Gyan and Welbeck so his chances were limited. He went on loan to Derby for a while last season but was injured. He then went to Watford but wasn't played (?) If you haven't guessed already I'm on about Ryan Noble and I reckon just about all us SAFC fans would love him to get a good run playing first team football. I think a few clubs are after him on loan but with the current goodwill between our two clubs and the good job you done with Jack I would say he's yours if you want him, probably half a season but maybe the whole season.
Thanks Charley, always good to get some inside knowledge / opinion. I would imagine though that PJ would already be aware of Ryan Noble and, if he is sufficiently impressed, perhaps we might well see him on loan next season.
They have already taken our best player, why now should we take one of their youths, give him first team experience, train him up, only for him to return to them as a better player. Not that I'm bitter in any way
Can I add one more thing to my post. I guess you lot will be aware of our selling Henderson to Liverpool. A lot of our fans had mixed reactions to the sale, a bit like your fans reaction to the Wickham sale. We did get a very good price for him (as you did for CW) and the players coming in have improved the squad far more than keeping Henderson would have. It's true he has great potential, as CW has, but we've got Larsson and probably Gardner in to replace him as well as having a healthy chunk of money for a 'big' signing which we all expect, like the Gyan or Bent signings recently. What I'm getting at is that you can get some good players in for the 8 or whatever million and if spent wisely you can improve your side with 2 or 3 quality players who will give you a better shot at promotion. Life goes on and I think at the start of the season you'll be fielding a stronger team even without CW, the same way I think we will without JH. So then, chins up lads and good luck for next season.
Thanks, but it's more likely we'll spunk the £8m on overvalued dross. Everyone knows we've got £8m to burn and we've been suckers in the transfer market for a few years now. The omens don't bare well. We've been spun the promotion yarn for too long and seeing as we consistenly finish mid-table it would need some stellar signings to make me believe any different. Still love my club though
Can't see Jewell making the same mistakes as Keane. Some of the dross Keane brought here took years to shift.
And it will be the same here I fear Cyprus. We have players who RK brought in who we probably can't get rid of until their contract is up 'cos nobody wants 'em.
Not just dross but dross on massive contracts. How did Keane leave Ipswich in that regard out of interest.
