A strong 4-5-1 vs Wolves?

  1. Yes, another line up article from me.

But i'm sick of 4-4-2. Best is the only good striker we have that scores goals. Ranger is excellent and i think he could end up being class, but we have no garuntee of him getting goals, so i think for now he should be a bench impact player, and then when we're safe, he should start every game.

However, for now, i think we should scrap Ameobi and Lovenkrands. They're ****, neither garuntee goals or any effect what so ever. Amoebi is good in the air, Lovenkrands is fast, but that's it. Best scores goals on a regular basis. Why don't we stop effectively playing 10 men, and play a strong midfield to support best?

I think we should play this -

    -Barton--Guthrie--Nolan--Ireland--Gutierrez

    ------------------Best--------------------

OBVIOUSLY (before anyone flips) i'd swap Guthrie with Tiote. But Tiote is suspended, so that's the line up i'd play for the Wolves game.

We can out work most teams in midfield, we have probably the 6th best midfield in this league! And that's even without Ben Arfa.

Our problem is goal scoring, and adding **** like Ameobi and Lovenkrands isn't going to help. We might aswell just try to push up the best we can with our strongest possible midfield, and outwork Wolves. People say if we need goals then we should play with two strikers, but Shola and Lovenkrands rarely score, and we might aswell add another creative midfielder in their place. More strikers doesn't necessarily mean more goals. We should put on our only good, goal scoring striker, and add more creativity to our midfield.

    Thoughts?

I think at home we need to go with two out and out strikers mate
or at a push a AM just behind a ST

  3. Yes but please tell me what use Shola and Lovenkrands are?

I tell you what, we might aswell give Kuqi a chance. In training he looks quite a clinical finisher to be honest.

I'd say push Ireland in behind Besty probably.
But yeah hopefully something like that I reckon. Nolan/Guthrie in the middle Ireland behind Best, Guti and Barton on wings. Then that leaves Fergie good for LB if Jose's out

If we do 2 up front I'd rather start Best and Ranger together I think. Lover and Best used to work but recently he's been looking a lot more useless. Then Kuqi as an impact sub.

On Monday you were saying Ferguson, today you're saying Ireland. There are still ten days until we actually play Wolves, so instead of posting a different line up every couple of days, why don't you just wait until Friday and tell us then? <ok>

    Methinks a solid 4-3-2-1

    Harper
    Simmo - Willo - Collo - Enrique
    Barton - Guthrie - Gutierrez
    Nolan - Ireland
    Best

    I'll go for a 4411(same as a 451 basically but a bit more attacking minded) :

    Harper
    Simpson Colo Willo Enrique(if fit)
    Guti Barton Nolan Ferguson
    Ireland*
    Best

*Have a feeling the Irish duo might make a link-up. I also think Ireland's a better player than Nolan(not this season obviously) but in general terms Ireland is the more gifted and he's suited better as a AM because he's quick, creative, comfortable on the ball and has better mobility than Nolan.

We need to give Ranger 90 minutes. He's shown far more ability than Lover or Ameobi, so he deserves a start and a full match over them. Simple.

I dont like it, Most people dont. A single striker upfront at home in st james's park. you must be on the pot sunshine. Best and ranger or wore im a donkey. Nothing wrong with a very big man who can head, hold up the ball very well but is ****e at everything else. Aslong as we keep the ball its all good.

    Your line up sucks tho

I like it, but if Enrique is fit I'd want Ferguson to get half an hour minimum.

I'd much prefer a 4-4-2 with Best and Ranger but Ranger wont start so this would be my choice.

(And in AG's defence, as a mod he could do you for spamming the page if you were to post an excessive amount of formation porn.)

I'd go with a similar formation as Tash but would have Ireland just behind Best then after 60 mins or so replace him with Ranger (depending of course on scoreline) as I think Ireland will be knackered. If Ireland was match fit I would have Nolan behind Best and Ireland in the centre but at the moment I think the game would pass him by due to fitness

Like that but can't see Nolan being dropped or Pardew dropping him in that case..
