For many seasons we have sat and bemoaned the 'lucky' moments in matches that seem to benefit the top teams.Last week I kicked the cat when Youngs shot was deflected twice for the winner at WBA. Today Chelski did the same to the unlucky baggies with deflection and a late goal.I have lost count over the last few seasons that these 2 teams have won matches with own goals or deflections or refereeing decisions and watched frustratingly as they went on to win the league. So after todays game at Arsenal does this mean a change in fortune for Liverpool? Are we gonna compete with Manure and Chelski in the 'luck' stakes? and does this mean we are serious contenders? And don't give me the rubbish about these things evening out over a season because where these 2 teams are concerned it definately doesn't. One final thing, just watched WBA on MOTD..how unlucky were they..again.
I think it's true to say good teams make their own luck to a large extent... If you're continually pounding low balls into the 6 yard box with strikers pushing up / attacking and adding lots of pressure for ling periods in a match then the opposition make mistakes / things go your way... If however you're pounding hopeful long balls in and giving the ball away in your own half which we have been guilty of in the not too distant past... They tend to go the oppositions way. So hopefully well continue to make our own luck
The first goal was pure luck but...the build up play to it especially the Suarez pass to Meireles was top class so I think it's fair to say those things do just happen sometimes...and the more they happen in our favour the better And remember Man ure win titles because they bribe the FA and Prem not because they are lucky (if anyone from the FA or PREM are reading these forums I was only joking about that last bit honest)
