Villa have come out as the first premier league club to support a return of stands in top flight grounds.
With the recent report clearing the fans of any blame in the Hillsborough disaster, could this open the door to a return of the stands and would it be a good thing?
I stand along with most of the East stand, which is something that's overlooked in most grounds, and I think that proper stands are safer than standing in a seated area and are much better for capacity and atmosphere in the ground so let's have it I say

could solve a major problem for us capacity wise, 25% given up to standing would increase the crowd up to 25k plus id have thought :)

Standing on a proper terrace is definitely better and safer than standing in a seated area. I'm all for it.

I actually went arse over tit over the seats last season, it wouldn't have happened in a proper stand...I must confess that I was attempting the Poznan at the time when Moore scored that goal against Man city <laugh>

For me open stands no, but smaller segregated ' pens ' would be a consideration where numbers can be controlled and overcrowding avoided, something like a box at the theatre , obviously bigger but you get the principal, that would alleviate the crush threat or people pushing forward inadvertantly

Good point rubber me ol' pal, that would encourage more but still be a good earner by an increase of numbers in a smaller area.

Benefits all round. More people get to see the game and more vocal support for the club; cheaper prices for the supporters; more money for the club. It's win, win for me.

Standing with strategically placed barriers to avoid surging would be great and good for the atmosphere, entry cost and mixing with other fans . Oh wait didnt we used to have that before somewhere ? :emoticon-0105-wink: Aint broke dont fix it comes to mind as said Hillsborough wasnt the fans fault ! A lot of us like standing at seated grounds but must get a bit of vertigo and feel unsafe with nothing infront to stop you jack-knifing a few rows even though we are suposed to be all seated that aint gonna happen is it ?

While they`re at it its about time they brought in this goal line camera technology for all games as theres so much money at stake ?

50% standing and 50% seating...I prefer to sit myself but i dont mind those who want to stand though.....it would put a couple of thousand more that could come in without any structural interference to the building..
