It's fantastic to be top for Xmas. I'll enjoy it while I can. That said, it's not an altogether unfamiliar place to be top at Xmas... I feel like we've been here several times before. I must admit, as much as I despise Woy, he's right, we will slip up eventually. We're a good team, and 9 years old of 10 this team would win the league. I still think City has one of the best PL teams of all time though. I still think they're favourites, but if we beat them we would surely be considered one of the best of all time too? To beat an all time great team over 38 games would be impressive for anyone. It would be much more impressive than had we won that season under Rodgers when everyone else was having a bad year. Meh, won't worry about that for now. It's Xmas Eve, we're top and United suck. It's a good time to be merry.
OK... Certainly looking even better after today... Still skeptical that we won't hit a rough patch and getting overtaken but 6 pt lead is nice. Still think it's City's title if they don't continue screwing up. If we beat them in our upcoming game with them though it will make things very difficult for them to rebound from.
it's nobody's title til somebody wins it. giving it to someone else just cos is silly. if we get through with a draw tomorrow we get 2 free games in out back pocket. if we win then we have 3 free. if we lose, only 1. after the city game all city can do is win all games as they can no longer influence what we do. we will have 17 games to go..... if we have 3 free games we need 14 wins... and city need to win them all. 14 wins = beat the non top 6 teams.
Honestly, I could easily see City seeing the season out without losing another game and I could easily see us losing more than two games. They have a deeper squad and a better squad on paper. Time is on their side, as the season progresses we will face more tiredness and are more exposed in case of injury. City are still the favourites. I might change my mind if we beat them in the upcoming game and end up three games clear... 2 games clear though is nice but not really significant. Not when you have City's squad. We are still the underdogs in this tussle.
