Now that we seem to have assemebled a squad to comfortably steer clear of the relegation scrap this year I think we'd all like to see a good cup run from the boys. TBH i'd be surprised if Tony hasn't mentioned this at some stage to Mark as part of 'Improving Our Global Image and Brand Awareness' Certainly a little stint in the UEFA cup would go a long way to accelerating that process. Im looking forward to a good year ahead.
We could go all the way to the final if we get the luck of the draw If we get one of the big boys away from home then we will probably go down as per usual
I don't believe that comes into force until the start of next season. So anybody who wins anything next season will come under scrutiny the following season.
Weve havent the luck of the draw. Weve drawn, Chelsea twice, Villa, Blackburn, and Man U all away from home in the last 5 years.
If you are going to quote me, at least don't do it out of context. Copy the whole quote you ****ing moron.
Weâve got a truly embarrassing record in the cups and itâd be nice to improve on that. I was actually there back in January when we narrowly squeaked past MK Dons in what I think was our first cup win this century (?). To be honest though as long as weâre looking good in the league Iâd be reasonably happy if we only just get past the 4th round in the FA Cup this time (â¦which would still be our best cup run since the 90s!). I do hope this year we treat the League Cup with a bit more respect than last year though.
With this lot it'll certainly be more interesting to see who we get and where we get up to this season. Be the first for ages where I think we'd have half a chance of getting out of the blocks.
Yep, i've said before in previous threads i am really looking forward to the cup this year. Year after year getting dumped out early has been disappointing but now i feel we could progress well. Fingers crossed.
Wouldn't it be great to get to the final of what was the League Cup and seeing something similar to what a lot of you have only seen on video. Tarbs doing a Rodney at Wembley and then Mackie getting the winner. After all the bad years it is something you younger ones deserve for sticking with it.
Were you there Colin? I bet the chant "Rodney Rodney" sounded great. I've only heard it on DVD and it sounds impressive.
Swords, to hear that go round Wembley was something I will never forget. it was more than impressive and deafening. The team knew the chant was for the team and not only for Rodney. A great day and evening but felt bad (hangover) next day playing in the semifinal of a cup. lost 5-2 but was still on cloud nine.
we may have won eventually, but those two games v mk dons were bad enough to rival any of our poor performances last year! add faurlins injury into the mix, and it was downright depressing......
