Coming from the far side of the planet, I've had next to no interest in the round ball game. I knew full well that Rangers were in deep **** for money owed, but that was about it. Were the directors of the club crooks or just **** businessmen? And what exactly is the state of the club now? Does the Rangers Football Club still legally exist? And who are the guys who are supposed to be playing in their stead?

The biggest "crooks" were the Rangers fans who did nothing while their club was gang raped by Murray and Whyte.

They were warned plenty of times what was happening. They did nothing.

One or five on here even defended Craig Whyte after he was exposed as a crook by the BBC.

Their club died and they stood there and watched. Now all they're left with is a tribute act.

Could the average punter actually do anything though. It's a long bow, but it reminds me of Austalia's involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan. The people hated it, but the government still had it's way. Same for the fan maybe?

But most Australian people didn't defend your government;s involvement in those countries though. The Rangers fans defended first Murray then Whyte despite being provided with evidence that they were killing their club.

Similar thing happened to Celtic in the early 90s. The fans rallied and saved the club.

Rangers were killed by dodgy businessmen and arrogance <ok>

i think as a general rule rangers fans have always had a shoot the messenger attitude. The Rangers Tax Case blog should have been a must read for berz, however, they chose to ignore the message. Same went ith the BBC doco's.

Whether they could have done anything is a matter of opinion.

As a legal entity yes. As a corporate and sporting entity, no.

The administrators of Rangers Football Club changed the name of the club to RFC 2012. That club is now in the process of being liquidated.

The tax evasion scam Rangers were running was uncovered in 2005. It was first brought into the public domain in 2006. Rangers kept up this scam until they could no longer operate it.

I am certain that if the compliant media would have reported this, even if a caring Rangers supporter would have acted upon this information to make it more widely known then pressure could have been brought to bear on those operating the scam which in turn would have allowed them to save their club.

Have the administrators changed the name to RFC 2012 because the "Rangers Football Club" is a trade name?

Was there no some kind of Securities Commission who had an overview of what was happening? If all this was known in 05, why did the powers that be, do nothing?

If those powers sat on their hands, what chance did a caring fan have?

Rangers could have operated a tax relief scheme within the boundaries of the law. They did not do that. It wasn't all known in 2005. It was uncovered in 2005. The scheme Rangers abused ceased to operate in 2010.

As with anything of that nature it takes time to gather evidence.

What was raised in 2006 were concerns about how Rangers were operating a scheme. Nobody asked any questions. So they carried on regardless.

RFC 2012 abandoned the name "Rangers Football Club" so that Sevco Scotland Ltd could trade as "THE Rangers Football club"

    Wrong, but nothing new there.

Company number SC004276, registered in 1899, 27 years after the formation of Rangers FC, traded as "THE Rangers Football Club". The club has always been there as a going concern, from 1872 until now. 140 years.

    :)
