The only question that I could hazard a guess at is : 30 seasons ago the Champions of the Scottish Premier League were Aberdeen?....I know that Fergie was their manager then and he was successful in breaking the monopoly of the old firm.
30 years ago was Dundee Utd. Interestingly I think they along with Aberdeen twice broke the monopoly for three years.
And I think 20 years ago was bloody Swindon, who laid down a week before the playoffs, (knowing full well they were already in them) against West Ham which cost us big time.
10 - Certainly not Rotherham! We beat them 3-2 at Fratton to clinch the title! 20 - Not Leicester. They finished 6th and beat us in the Playoff semis No, although the team in question is currently in the Blue Square Prem, along with Grimsby! No . We drew at their place on the opening day of the season, but beat them 3-1 at home. Sorry meowth - no cigar. Swindon finished 5th. Blimey, all that and only one correct answer
25 seasons ago: The now sadly defunct Chester City? ...(was going to say Wrexham but probably too obvious for you Dev!)
Ah, Chester. Yes they've had success in the Welsh Cup but they're not the team I'm looking for. They finished 15th in the Third division [League One]
Yes it was Southport. They were relegated the following season and after another 4 years in the Fourth Division, the last three of which they finished 23rd, they failed to be re-elected, despite the fact they finished 7 points clear of bottom club, Rochdale. Wigan Athletic and Bath City applied to join the league, joining the bottom four of the Fourth Division: Hartlepool, York, Southport and Rochdale. The vote: York - 49 Rochdale - 39 Hartlepool - 33 Southport - 26 Wigan - 26 Bath - 23 Second Ballot Wigan - 29 Southport - 20 Wigan elected to the League at the expense of Southport
Yes. My reference to the Welsh Cup, rather than to say a Welsh side opened the possibilities up a bit by including the English sides that have won the competition.
Right, I've added a final clue for each of the unanswered questions. I'm not here tomorrow so will reveal the answers [if necessary] on Monday
