Come on them people, tell me what did Konchesky do that was so wrong, so awful that makes him such a target of ridicule? People are commenting about the quality of Djimi Traore in the European medal thread, is Paul worse than him? He had is best season the year before at Fulham. So what evidence does anyone have that Konchesky was simply the worst player ever to pull on the red shirt. Same goes for Aquaman, the amount of people wanting him to leave is unbelievable! Yes we got him when he was injured, but the back end of the season, he was starting to show why Rafa wanted him, and he looked class. Then doddery Woy sends him out on loan, probably because he was too attacking minded, and now so many people are calling for him to be sold?! Again folks were is your evidence that he is unfit to grace our mid-field? Either put up, or shut up...
I think people generally only say aquaman should go because it seems like he does not want to be here. As for konchesky, he made a couple of errors in games and the fans just wanted to vent all the anti-roy feelings an he gave them a focal point. Thought he was a decent squad player when we got him so a shame to see what happened but his confidence with the club is shot and he now has to move.
I didn't like the time he tapped Gordon Browns phone, and bought infomation from the Police. On a serious note - he just didn't fit the picture. I didn't hate him/abuse him - that was wrong. Do I think he should go? 100%
I thought it was harsh calling her own son a "Cockey ****" to be fair. Also "The Liverpool scum don't know class when it hits them in the face", yeah right, Konchesky is class.
To be honest Noblelox PK was'nt good enough(i know and agree with your point about there being players that were'nt good enough before his arrival),but i did'nt want us to sign him, also even though like the rest of us i gave Roy a chance and PK was one of his(ie;never gonna reach the heights for us but would look like Messi for a lesser club). PS His ma never helped his cause. As for Aqua,I wanted to see him come back fresh and fit after his season in Italy, but he made it plain he did'nt want to commit to us,I think now that he has to stay with us he'll realise he should'nt believe in his own hype and knuckle down and be the player we know he is.
He is ****... Kenny obviously agrees, that why he's being sold! Aquaman i would quite like to stay. Although a good offer i would also be happy with.
Oh she's a crass old slapbag herself, but considering the **** her kid was getting, I can't blame her for letting rip. And can we hold that against Paul?
Evidence!!! prove he is ****, opta stats, youtube videos, anything... It's obvious he needs to move on, and that is why he is being sold, not being good enough for us, don't make him ****. Playing for Man U makes you **** ;-)
Are there many Aqua haters? As terrific says, it's only because he seemed to want to leave that people thought he should. If you read other threads you'll find a lot of people (me included) wanting him to be given a chance to show what he can do. As for PK, he didn't do too well to begin with, and then... well, look at Raaaul's post for the rest of the story.
Konchesky and Poulsen suffered by association with Hodgson. It might've fed into their performances, though Poulsen looks hard enough to take the flak. Konchesky's mum might-ve embarrassed him, or she might've been echoing things he'd said privately. Either way there was no coming back for him. Kenny knew that. Kenny gave Poulsen a chance to change some minds before the end of the season but like Konchesky he's just not good enough to stay.
I reckon if Konchesky was brought in as a backup and we had a regularly fit first choice he would have been seen as a good signing. Aquilani is and was a class player. People were just upset the physios got it wrong and G&H were in the process of destroying the club.
The fact that we signed a 29 year old on a four year contract for £4million and let the more talented (regardless of his flaws) Insua go out on loan pretty much sums up Hodgson's time as manager, and largely wrongly that meant Konchesky was a target for the venting of frustrations. I think at first it was exasperation with his obvious lack of quality, and some mocking, and then when his mum said that stuff and he didn't have any comment to make it turned sour. As for the original question, well Konchesky was one of our worst performers in a team that had the worst start in the league since the 50's, made no noticeably positive contributions (unlike Djimi for example who helped win the CL), and cost us £4mil for 15 league games, so i'd say he is quite possibly the worst signing we've ever made. Possibly the worst performer, in the worst team, under the worst manager, under the worst owners in the history of our club. We've signed plenty of duds, but i'd say that's a compelling case. Whether he is the worst player in terms of his whole career, that's a different story, but saying good riddance to Konchesky is probably one of the last demons to be exorcised of the Hicks/Gillett/Hodgson era.
For me it was not that his mother got involved,He is one of LFC worst signings ever made 15 games for 4£mil I'm not sorry for the s..t i shouted towards him fully deserved IMO
Nobody hates Aquilani...It seems however that he hates us.Then again Italians have a habit of been up their own arses. Now if he wants to go...let him.Sell him to the first Italian club that stumps up the cash.If it means we keep ''Rampaging Raul'' all the better. Konchesky on the other hand was part of the old regime...in other words not wanted. He nor Hodgson were never accepted and were never going to be given a chance.Poulsen who Jan Molby warned Hodgson about signing was another.
Why did Hodgson think he was good enough for Liverpool when Moyes wouldn't even sign him.And Moyes has signed some amount of rubbish. Yakabu. Andy Johnson. Phil Neville. Per Kroldrup. Kevin Kilbane. Lee Carsley.
In the end, when it mattered, Paul didn't perform. I honestly believe he is a good defender but it just didn't work out for him at Liverpool. Now he has gone to Leicester, I wish him all the very best and I hope he can get his career back on track. Let's hope his mum can keep her mouth shut and not annoy the Leicester fans as well!
i think first he got it for not being a good player, poeple were fed up of G&H and he was seen as a bad buy day one even by people backing roy at the start. roy was awful ergo all his signings got targetted. second bascially he cut and run. some guys are brave and will tough that stuff out. not knochesky who jumped at forest! i ask you forest i nthe championship as a route out instead of playing under kenny when we'd no left back. third the whole mother incident was just fuel to the fire. in the end it seems poulsen, jones and knochesky are all focused on as the dogs of players we don't want to be associated with and we wish to see the back of every bargain buucket buy of the past 3-4 years in a fresh start. ............................. finally. i think both the haters and some guys who come on forums and say "best of luck" etc are both wrong. we owe him nothing, he didn't really do much or fight for his place. haters are wrong simply beacuse its wrong to hate. the good luck and all the best guys are wrong cos i feel its kind of deliberate in response to the hate and everyone knows its going to wind up the haters. and if anything really we don't owe him a good luck, he got a big pay day!
Why not wish him luck if you don't hate him? I don't wish harm to the guy. He didn't fit in with us for all the reasons outlined above. Now he's gone. Everyone's a winner, so we move on. As more his mum, well, we don't pick our parents so can't blame him for that.
