Chatting with a few mates over the pub last night reminiscing about the times we spent going to Chelsea and watching games in the 'Shed' and all agreed about one thing, which was the indelible mark Mickey Greenaway had on all our lives. 'Greeno' was the first to invent lyrics to well known tunes starting a terrace singing culture we all enjoy today. please log in to view this image
Ginge Remember the old shed entrance like it was y'day...Me & my mate were skinheads then, & had or DM laces taken away one day, - had to leave them hanging on the fence outside & collect them after If I ever catch up with the theiving scum bag that took my ones....
I never went My old man wasn't exactly flush back then and didn't want to spend money on the match, and was also a little wary of trouble given that it was the mid 80's. All my mates were either QPR or Liverpool so no scope there either.
Yeah...there was that.. Got caught in some trouble now & then, went to Pompey v Chelsea on boxing day once, - went with Pompey mates from home (only time in SB away end ever) Earls Court was a battle ground because Fulham were home to Millwall as well - quality fixture setting remember a hammer fan getting in the Shed end over the fence once as well Oh lordy it was carnage....he's probably a lawyer or a magistrate now
Talking about trouble I once got involved in a massive fracas at home against QPR. I was guesting with a few mates in a strategic place in the away end when Chelsea popped one in needless to say our cover was blown and we ended up fighting back to back for safety. Got a kicking but Jeez we took some with us
